next year the blueline should be
Lindgren-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Hajek/Reunanen-Lundkvist
and I think they should re-sign Brendan Smith to a cheaper deal for depth as the veteran - jimbro83
Would love Smith as a 7th if he agreed. Nils better get his skinny little ass over here! |

If Smith signs for nothing, I'm OK with it, but I think you really could just have like Bitetto in that role. I think we are all in agreement with even more rookies possibly in the fold, we need a vet backup. Crazy to think other than Trouba, Fox might be the senior guy of the blueline next year.

what's also crazy is that on the blueline we have 3 bonafide blue chip blue line prospects in Zac Jones, Nils Lundkvist and Braden Schneider
we are talking can't miss top of the line prospects in all three of them
but, at the same time, 4 defensemen should be locked up for years in Fox, Trouba, Lindgren and Miller
so how do these 3 guys fit in ultimately when you can only dress 6 defensemen a game?

I really dont care about the 4th line, I just want a guy centering it that can win faceoffs
what I want is Panarin-Strome-Kakko to remain a thing
you guys can fight about all the rest - jimbro83
At this point we can't expect to have a kick assss steady 4th line until we start getting some "set" top 3 lines. Teams like Isles, who are contending make great use of the 4th line. Rebuilding teams can't really expect that. |

Smith really has turned it around from that disaster of a year.

I'm sure he got a NTC or NMC as well? Like said I can think of worse things then him being a 3rd line wing on your team. I mean you hope he is on the 3rd line in the next couple of years - Vukota

Back at the start of the Texas Hold 'em craze I played in a weekly game with some buddies. We watched this every single time we played for at least a summer! |

I hate against people wanting to give him a long term deal.
He is fine as a stop gate for a rebuilding, bubble playoff team. But when this team is hopefully contending for a cup in the next couple years I hope we upgrade at 2C instead of locking in Strome long term.
I know there are others on this blog, but I am not afraid to admit it |

Having Zib as #1 and Strome as #2 wouldn't prevent NYR from being cup contenders. IF Laf, Kakko, Kravs, Barron, Chytil become what we think they can be, then giving Strome a "reasonable" long term deal isn't the end of the world. |

When it comes to distributing, he is legit! I would sign him 5 year 6-7M. I think that would do it to
