it's 100% the case, it's pretty funny really - jimbro83
Where's the Edmonton hate? They got 1 Generational talent and Draisaitl looks to be borderline. Or the Penguins hate? |

Vitali Kravtsov will skate today with the Rangers' extras. The regulars are off the ice today, but back on for practice tomorrow, when Kravtsov is expected to join them. |

this rule "teams can't win more than 2 lotteries in 5 year span" may as well say "Ranger rule"

My guess it was those two teams who pushed for this change |

The thing is I think the rule is fine but it certainly is odd to come up now. What about the other times it has happened to the dumpster fire teams? Buffalo too with Eichel and Dahlin. |

The Rangers only won the lottery once, why would it be the Ranger rule?? More like the Oilers or Devils rule!!! |

How can you possibly say moving up to 2nd from 6th was not winning the lottery?
Try telling that to Ottawa, Detroit, LA and Buffalo! |

Well because the way it sounds the rule is written you can move up to the second spot as many times as you win it, just not the first spot. |

Buffalo is just so strange, they seem to have been doing a lot of things the right way
firing Phil Housley after Rasmus Dahlin had such a great rookie season seems to be a really really shortsided thing to do though, he just looks lost |

Is that confirmed?
I take it to mean that a win would be any advancement due to your number coming up, not just winning the #1 slot. Like I said previously, I don't see how you can say that a move from #6 OA to #2 is not a win, just because someone else got luckier. |

the way i understand it as winning the lottery is either getting the 1st/2nd pick, so you can only have 2 of those in 5 years. |

there's been nothing wrong with the lottery the way it's been done and then this past summer was unprecedented and won't ever happen again, it shouldn't have been the catalyst for changing it all up

Back from Florida. Already missing the 80 degree temps. Anyway to answer your question, Buffalo is way worse. The Pagulas actually have the capital and shouldn't have to cheap their way out of anything for any reason. They are just really badly mismanaged. We know Ottawa doesn't have the best guys running things, but at least they can use budget as an excuse.

It's maddening though. We legit may be watching the beginning of a dynasty where a team got Stamkos and Hedman at the top of the draft in short order preceeded yb Malkin and Crosby (and Flower if you want to throw that one in). Ours is the one that causes the rule change.

They did open up the pocketbook for Skinner, but then they fired the coach who got the most out of Skinner

Does it say any kind of movement? If not I would assume it just means to get the first overall pick |

The bottom 8 teams get a chance for the #1 pick with no team moving more than 4 picks up or down. |

Honestly, that's a team that should hire Boudreau. He's terrible in the playoffs, but he does help your team in the regular season. If there ever was a team that needed to get a stink of them and just reach the postseason, it's them.

Getting something out of him is a huge bonus, but if a coach made Eichel and Dahlin into night in and out gamechangers that they can be, that's much more important. They obviously don't have the depth of Tampa and even Toronto, but we've seen those teams have levels of success despite some really bad contracts.
