Just heard tonight that the Flyers are not talking Ekholm with the Predators, but Ellis instead. The reason is Ellis is signed long term at 6.25M for the next 6 seasons after this one, but is the same age as Ekholm and probably a little better offensively. Ekholm however is bigger and plays tougher I think. In the end would the Flyers want to get a player that is signed for this many more seasons?

They didn't say, except if the Flyers are going to give up picks and prospects it makes more sense for Ellis if you believe he is worth it because he is with the team for the foreseeable future.

Tough to point the finger at him. He’s been one of their best players this season. The team has stunk as a whole, but I think he may have made it that a contending team would have interest in him.
