I’m not gonna lie to ya...I’m not a big fan of of the analytics world. I’m more of the eye test guy. It’s not hard to pick out mistakes when you watch a replay. Hockey is and always will be a game of mistakes. Most systems are designed to create chances and force mistakes. The team that does the best job at those two things while taking the most advantage mostly wins.
I’m not discounting the analytics world, because in a lot of cases it serves a purpose. In a league so tight between winning and losing every little advantage helps.

I understand and am not surprised, based on little things you have said here and there. I don;t follow much analytics myself largely because I can't really be bothered.

But I don't think the two are competitors (eyes, numbers I mean). They are complementary. The human eye and brain is great at looking at individual instances. Its not so great in remembering lots of them, finding out patterns from them and so on. Similarly, numbers are summaries and lack detail. Human impressions can correct for that.

Speaking of which, btw:
Ghost has by far the worst relative Fenwick amongst our defencemen (ignoring blocked shots, his presence means we give up much more shots than make them relative to the average guy on the team -aka his presence drags the team down by the most in that regard).

Are already or can be? I agree with the latter.

But I just don;t see the evidence they are so good right now. They are collectively about average. On a good team they would compete for spots 4-6.
