Quinn is a former defenseman, this should not surprise anyone he would have a greater impact on that position. I don't think he has done a "terrible " job developing forwards, but clearly not as good as with our young D... - TommyGTrain
I feel the forwards are kinda tougher to break in on this roster because theres really no space in the top 6 which leaves them to play a lot of defensive minutes. |

thanks man, I wasn't aware of any of this - jimbro83
U said they were older, most are the same age. Don’t be smug, I actually like Quinn, just wish he could put these young kids in a better position to succeed. |

so you are advocating for Howden and Lemieux to be put into prime offensive situations?

This list is a bit selective, no? What about how he's turned Buch and Strome into legit players? I get it, they were not kids when he got a hold of them, but Quinn did play a large role in their development. Same can be said about Zib. When Quinn became the coach, Zib gained 30pts...
There does seem to be a very clear path to success under Quinn, and for whatever reason it takes time and a level of responsibility to come to fruition. Not saying I agree with it one way or the other.
Much of the strong opinions about this team fail to acknowledge that things aren't so black and white. There is a lot of "grey area". - Bean_Dip
Buch was drafted 8 years ago, Strome and Zib 10 years ago. |

I don’t think Lemeuix has been given much of a chance and due to the roster I don’t see a spot for him in the top 9. Howden I think just sucks and I think if Gauthier was given an opportunity he could be a beast. |

look we are talking about Lafreniere, Kakko, Miller and Fox
stop confusing the topic and adding names that irrelevant to win the argument
we are talking about those 4 guys, you know it, I know it

I don't even understand what argument you are trying to make anymore.
You said you don't hate Quinn, but a hatred of Quinn seems to be the prevailing theme throughout your posts.
Lemieux is not a top nine player, or even if he might be ok on a 3rd line, it won't be with this team. Howden is a 4th line center and PK specialist. This is becoming rather clear. Gautier was drafted 4 years before he came to us and still can't play disciplined, systematic hockey.
You are trying to blame these facts on Quinn, but they would still be facts regardless of who is coaching. |

Is age the only factor in development? I don't get what you're trying to say...
Quinn became the coach and those three guys got better. |

It's almost like taking time to develop your game and become an all-around effective player is the norm rather than the exception. Thanks for illustrating this point!! |

Quinn sucks because he didn't develop Howden, and Howden sucks and shouldn't even be on the roster
I think?

the initial thought is a good one, why have Fox and Miller succeeded so quickly and why have Kakko and Lafreniere struggled as much as they have, and I do think it's a maturity thing
Miller two years in college, Fox three years in college, it absolutely helped
I'm a little impatient with Zac Jones staying in school for his 3rd year but I am sure it'll do wonders for his development
he just looks great right now |

For sure. For example, LAF came out of the QHMJL. A league widely known to not feature a lot of defensive play. Scouts know that players coming out of that league have inflated stats compared to the OHL, WHL, NCAA...
Of course, there have been top players to come out and immediately have great success in the NHL. But, isn't really fair to condemn LAF, or Quinn for that matter, because he isn't Mario Lemieux, Lecavalier, or Crosby?
Also, a quick search and number crunch shows that on average 1 player per team in the Q is of potential NHL caliber. The step up in competition is real. As is the need to develop in all 3 zones. |

Does Gauthier ever get to play again? Has he served his time yet? |
