Science is over rated. You can skew the "science" to obtain whatever results you're looking for, so I'm going with 12 points.

I like the way you think sir. Let's make random claims that are non-sensical.

Laf with 8 goals.
Kakko with 10 assists
Chytil with 234 hits.

.

Im not expecting Laf or Kakko to tear it up every game, but is it too much to ask to see them both show some flashes of a future star player? Neither have shown any flashes of brilliance..ever! Good plays here and there but thats it.

Not in anyone’s head but I think these guys are so worried about defending and back checking their offense takes a complete dive. 1 or 2 seasons these guys will be lethal.

Busts, the both of them.

Did I say that? No...just want to see a kick as individual effort once in a while on a shift

Its hard to expect a couple of teenagers to lift up a team struggling out of the gate up and down the lineup.
- aecliptic

Where in my post did I say I expect them to lift up the team? I think it is reasonable to expect a few plays from time to time where we say "wow, that's why they were drafted so high" ...Thats all.

they are both gonna train their asses off this summer, not locked down by Covid like they were this past summer, have an actual training camp next season and the difference will be night and day

I mean people always love to say "that's no excuse" when excuses are offered up for something, but I think the whole Covid situation, what it did to this season, is a legit excuse

and Kakko was looking really good and then actually got it himself and that's definitely derailed him

That could be said about the whole team, it took what... 2 months? For this team to look even a shroud of themselves from last year.

Its gonna be interesting to see if they part-take in the trade deadline, and especially what the plans are for the off-season. Im still convinced hiring Quinn was a plan from years ago to lure Eichel here when the time was right. Im kinda hoping theyve abandoned ship on that. Quinn can stick around for now, but Eichel I dont want any part of that.

Like was said, I think theyre just so worried with playing defense and doing the little things they never get a chance to uncork the talent.

Playing not to lose vs. playing to win definitely changes how these guys approach the game.

I totally understand your point. And maybe you have the right of it.
But, I think there is a method to it other than making young stars play outside their comfort zone.
These guys have such high talent levels that I feel Quinn's approach will give them a great foundation which their natural offensive instincts will eventually envelop into their overall game, making for complete, 200-foot stars.
This is why I am willing to give him lots of leash.

There is merit to that idea on the surface. But, IMO, if a team EVER hires a coach with the idea it might bring a former player of his into the fold, I'd call it a huge mistake. So, I hope that this was not the case here.

I'd say that is natural development for rookies/young talent. They have to learn how to be defensively responsible in the NHL. Minor leagues such as QMJHL and such do not have that type of development. That's the big adjustment for some of these talents.
Perfect example of this is Nail Yakupov. Talent out the ass, dumb dumb on the defensive side of the puck. The OHL didn't need him to care about defense as long as he was scoring.

Pisses me off they put the UNC game on the same time as the Rangers tonight. They had about 20 different time slots to choose from
