Wonder if Edmonton will offer sheet Demko this off season.

With Chiarot out for a confirmed 8 weeks, it could open up the possibility of of Jordie Benn being left in Montreal during the back half of this road trip.👍
Montreal has loads of draft picks, Benning needs more picks, a perfect match.

lol do you honestly think MTL would take Benn back?

Not happening.

Benn back to MTL for a 3rd
Holtby to the Aves for a second and Hunter Miska (to expose)
Sutter to flames for a 2nd

I think teams will care less about picks this year. Our chance to scoop a bunch up and see what happens.

Ek saying teams might be interested in Holtby...should do it for next years cap and sign a way cheaper back up for Demko. Does he have NMC?

Says a few teams want Sutter too....couple of losses away from sell mode.

I still hope we can go 16-5 but not super hopeful

The problem is VAN is still vying for the post season. Not in sell mode.

No, it’s his third.

RFA with arb rights, but there is a very short window from July 28 to Aug 1st where he can delay filing for arbitration (deadline Aug 1) but after the signing window opens. Van could sign him, but it’s his opportunity to see what’s out there.

Edit - also (Vantel) I got the UFA dates wrong, he’s not a UFA for two years, which means a two year deal would be management suicide for Benning. One year, or 4+.

I can’t imagine they aren’t aiming for long-term after letting Marky walk

I think they will probably try and get him to do a one year bridge ($4ish) and then go long(er) term the following year. Question is, will he go for it?

What do you pay the player that is arguably the best player on the team? A 4 million offer might be considered a slap in the face, when the backup(Holtby will be paid almost 6 million, next season.

Because of the flat cap, or the pandemic if you like, everyone has different ideas and expectations. I think older players will be looking for security (term) and younger players will be banking on themselves and the future. I think Demko, Hughes, Pettersson will all want short next deals anticipating the next deals will be huge. Will be interesting to see what ends up happening.

Really though....demko has played 57 NHL games...he should take a 1-year deal in 4-5 range and let's see if he's for real.

Not sure 57 NHL games = 5X5

Canucks may surprise everyone and offer Demko a 6x6 this year who knows.

I wouldn't throw that much money and term until we actually win something with him. 4 mil is fair enough.
