We'll see what happens over the next couple of weeks. IMO, Kyle Palmieri makes the most sense for the #Isles. Plays in all situations, can score. Barry loves versatility.

I love me some Hertl but not sure they're going to be able to fit his $5.625M under the cap for next year

Or Mr. Andrew Badd comes to the realization that his knees make him unable to play hockey anymore.

Lol... What is Tonya Harding's ex doing these days. Ladd is easy to find since he's always in the press box

The flipside would be to play him on the pp, pk and 5x5 until those knees click like a gambling wheel

the news on lee sucks and lou most definitely needs to make a move here. i hate to give up big assets for a pure rental like hall though, although i would if that's the best move out there. forsberg seems like he would be the biggest prize from what i can find. since he has two years left, id be willing to give up a bit more to get him if it means taking a bad contract back, and for a team that's ready to rebuild, it could work for both sides. does bellows/komarov/2021 1st/2021 2nd come anywhere close to working? komarov is brutal for a contending team but he served a role at the beginning of his contract.

You'd probably be replacing Bellows with Beau on that one.

Might be an unpopular opinion but I'd probably do it...and I love Beau.

Anyone with term left after this year will be hard to keep because of the Cap and RFA and UFA that need to be signed. That’s why Palmieri and Hall seem the logical choice.
I would prefer Palmieri. Def a Lou and Trotz type player.

agreed with the cap, but isnt that something we could worry about over the summer since we wouldnt have to be cap compliant until training camp? worst case scenario, they would have to trade forsberg before the season starts where there would be obvious suitors and we could recoup some of the assets we used to deal for him to begin with.

yeah beau makes it tougher to swallow. i dont like giving him up for a rental or for someone with little term left. isles need all of the young guys they can get going forward and i dont think beau is done maturing as a player yet.

That doesn't seem to happen very often. Maybe it's an option but I'm not expecting that.

The downside of that is you risk not being able to sign one of Pelech/Beau/Sorokin/Casey/etc...

I don't either, but Forsberg is a significantly better player and he's only 3 years older than Beau (he's 27 this summer, Beau will be 24). There's certainly risk associated with that, but it gives the Islanders a significant upgrade on offense.

I still think Palmieri will be their #1 target. He's versatile, usually scores very well and can play with both special teams units. He also costs less than 2/3 of what Forsberg does and doesn't present any cap implications for next season. He also leaves them room to go out and pick up a decent defenseman. Or bargain bin defensive depth and maybe another extra forward.

i expect palmieri to ultimately be the person we get as well, but it just doesnt excite me much, except for the price tag compared to some of the other players out there.

i agree forsberg is the better player over beau. but if we move beau out and forsberg in, we still have a hole in our line up. is forsberg & palmieri possible if beau is out in a trade?

beau/komarov/1st/2nd for forsberg, and then a 2nd/3rd for palmieri.

If they bring in two players I can't see them being both Forwards. Isles are one injury away on D from being in trouble. I would think a forward plus a depth D-man would be more likely then two forwards.
