Are you kidding? Couts is Patrice Bergeron only several years younger, any team would die for that type of player!
- jd250

So they are going to trade their 23/24 year old franchise center under team control for next 5 years for a free agent in 2022 who will be 29 years old? Make total sense.

Team defense is a dumpster fire right now. Decion making with the puck in all three zones is inexcusable. That touch pass Giroux tried at his own blue line that led to a turnover and goal was unbelievable.

This team is maddening at the moment. Where they should be simplifying yet they choose to make things complicated. The coach needs to put the hammer down and start benching players for some shifts in game. A message needs to be sent. They need to be embarrassed in front of their teammates and fans.

I would have benched Voracek and demoted him in game after that ridiculous turnover and lack of effort on the back check two nights ago. And he needed to demote Giroux or sit him for a few shifts last night after that ridiculous play.

There is no accountability for the real culprits. Instead he sits NAK and Myers. Yeah, that sends a message.

- MBFlyerfan

NAK got sat because he was napping on the bench and the Flyers were playing 5 on 4 for 20 seconds on that goal you seem to be blaming Giroux for.

The Flyers have trouble with any team that has a strong forecheck or clogs the middle of the ice. The forwards rarely give our D-men support for getting out of our defensive zone. Waaaay too many turnovers. I would like to see the Flyers put more emphasis on making the smart, low risk play, instead of trying to force impossible passes that end up as icings or one and done's.

Don't get me started on team defense......

How do you know they’ll get “better”? And what does “better” mean? They’ll both turn into 12-15 goals per year players? If so, players like that are a dime a dozen. But scoring is an aside...WHAT specifically in their game stands out to you to believe they’ll get better? To me, nothing stands out in either player’s game.
- BroadSTmayhem

Because they were better, Lindblom was a borderline first line/absolute top 6 player before he got sick. Patrick was also playing very well the final half of his last season before his migraines got him.

Neither have gotten back to that yet. Im done with this conversation lets just agree to disagree.

I turned this game off at 4-2 and I was speed watching from recording as well.
This team is just a hot mess right now.

They can’t even play basic hockey 101 right now.
One would think the first shift or two after scoring the next shifts would pay attention to coverage and prevent high danger chances.
My biggest fear is having Fletch’s hand forced and he does something stupid.
Gm’s are going to know he’s in a tough spot and are going to push for more than he will want to give.
I’m a stern vote no on trading picks and young guys.
Brain, Gus, Jake, JVR, Elliot should be shopped.
I would consider shopping Sanheim if the price was right.
Of course that’s going one York and or Zamula can progress quickly enough to play.

Another thing I find orpnoc is how we are worried about G and Jake winning a cup in their primes yet they historically have awful starts on top of the yearly December funk.. I want to win but if our star players aren't buying in to the process then I struggle to find sympathy for those players anymore
We have seen the potential that our guys can play to while we watched them dominate last season... How do some of them forget how to play like that?!

This is a cluster at the moment

Unless the powers that be don’t believe the 3 core dman will improve (possible they don’t) it would be foolish to trade one unless it’s too good of a deal.

Would really love to know how other teams value those 3.

I like AV, but in a way, when Tortorella was available, I'm a bit sorry they didn't hire him. Granted, he would have been fired months after being hired, but he would have exposed the true lacking mix of reality and culture..that seems to exist within this organization.
- CupOnBroadSt.

It dosen't take Torts to expose this team, since 2012-13 this team has gone through Peter Laviolette, Craig Berube, Dave Hakstoll, Scott Gordon and A.V as head coachs, the one constant thing that remains is Claude and Jake have seen all these coachs come and go {except A.V yet}, all these years with those two in the leadership role the consistant play of these Flyers teams has been the same, slow starts to games, fall behind early, play hard for one period to make it close sometimes even winning a game and at the end Claudes ussual press conference where he says "I have to play better".

I respectfully disagree. If you can get a player like Ekholm for the right price that fills a big hole on your team now and in the future, you do it. He may not be enough this season, but he is a building block to a better team in the near future.
- jd250

I don't think ekholm shores up our defense. So what does that do? Get us into the first round of the playoffs? The price in assets to simply get bounced in the first round couples with the ED pick just isn't worth it to me. We aren't that close to a cup. Not with the way we are playing.
Look if everything was clicking and we are against the hurdle to greatness I'd be all in. Go for it! It would be our time... But it's not our time. We aren't just a dman away from greatness. Our special teams are not special. They're terrible.
The price for ekholm as mentioned is not worth it. I may do ekholm straight up for patrick, but would nashville do that? 🤷🏽‍♂️

Is Eichel really on the trade block? If so, why wouldn't we offer Patrick? Not sure what else it would take to pull off.

Less than 1 minute left in the 2nd, Phantoms up 4-1, those goals include the first pro career goals for Foerster and Allison.

The Phantoms are really exciting this year. Hopefully, Wylie is okay, apparently hurt from puck to the face.

That's my point, if you can get a piece like Ekholm for the right price then you have to do it. Its not about this year, its about building a contender step by step by acquiring or developing the necessary pieces. Right now there is no one in the Flyers system that is ready to step into a top pairing role. Maybe York at some point but we honestly have no idea what he will become. Ekholm is a proven commodity with plenty of thread life left, so if you can acquire him for the right price, you do it regardless of how the team is playing now. I don't know if talks are really occurring between the Flyers and Nashville, and I am not sure what Nashville wants or what the Flyers are willing to part with. Of course the ED matters also. But if something can be worked out, its a step that I would welcome in a heartbeat.

Very true what you say here. I love G but I think its time we move on and let someone else set the tone for the team. And Jake has got to go, I am really done watching that guy doing pond skates, giving away pucks and dogging it on back checks.

I didn't say anything about a trade for Eichel, I simply said any team would die to have Couturier on their team right now.
