I would sell early to make sure players are sold. No need to have a Hammer incident where one team is going to choose between two players and choose the other.
- manvanfan

I think a few of us would in here too.. but JB talking about resigning guys doesn't seem like it will go that way. If he started to sell guys, he'd be admitting this team he built isn't very well, and won't be turning it around this season.

I'd wait another couple weeks then evaluate. Pearson could get a good return, as with Sutter (2nd rounders?). Especially if they're both going to Canadian teams with no quarantine required.

Edler and Hamonic would be decent, but I doubt either of them agrees to go.

Benn for a low pick.

Maybe a team will even take a flyer on Baertschi, since he's already in the US. But I highly doubt that.

I'm sure JB doesn't want to give up too early. He only mentioned re-signing Pearson. There has been talk about Edler willing to waive this season as it might be his last.

JB needs to sign EP, QH, Demko first. Pearson won't be a priority.

I can see that.

That guy has always been bum buddies with Daniel Wagner about the Canucks.

Talk from Edler and the Canucks, or just talk in the media?

Potentials to move: Hamonic, Edler
God wouldn't it be nice to move: Beagle, Baertschi, Rous

TDL is April 12th

Benning has to be more like TBL and Chi and utilize LTIR . The Blackhawks admit that they have 21 mil in LTIR and if you want to dump more on them or a bad contract they will take it off you for picks and prospects.

There is no way that Roussel or Beagle would be part of a trade so put them on LTIR. Roussel's hip is acting up again and missed last night and needs long long rest. Same with Beagle's nagging injury.

The timing is perfect for both their injuries that both will have served 10 games in time for TDL. With 7 weeks left the timing is perfect if Jim wants to bend the rules like a few other GMs are doing?

I'm just following his MO, if he really want's to sign/trade Pearson he can't hold out until the last minute.

Ya, I get that, but the problem with that is it would only be for this season. If you're taking back money/contracts (like you outlined with Tyler Johnson who has 3 more years after this at 5 mil) is that there would be cap complications that get piled up this summer when you have 3 big guys to resign.

Can't really force Rous or Beagle onto LTIR for multiple seasons.

He's come out and said he wants to work on Pearson's contract (or not) before he talks to Petey and Quinn's agent.

So, there is the chance Pearson walks for nothing in FA... if Benning wants to figure out a contract with him, but can't before the TDL, and then doesn't find common ground before free agency.

Why does it only have to be for this season? Why can't Roussels hip injury that everyone admits has slowed him down not need a lot of time? I seen Chicago use this tactic over and over, the Islanders , TB Arizona . If Roussel is not up to NHL speed after his surgery why can he not stay on LTIR like Seabrook or Boychuk?

Tyler Johnson also has as many goals as Pearson

Because those players willingly went on LTIR. If Beagle and Rous actually want to play, they will file grievances with the NHL/NHLPA, and that will come back around to the Canucks/cap. Forcing them to LTIR is about as effective as forcing LE to MTA.

While Johnson has as many goals as Pearson, he's also older, costs 1.25 mil more, and is tied to a longer contract.

Ferland said he was feeling better and Benning said no. No grievance filed.

Remember Manny Maholtra who said he was good to play and Mike Gillis said no you are not . Manny once again played after he left Canucks but no grievance filed.

Benning can easily say that since his surgery Roussle has not been able to reach NHL level of skating and wants him to rehab until he hits that level again.

Pearson in for a rude awakening though. He's a 2.5M player on his next contract the way he has been playing. Bumped down easily.

Team doctors don't stay as team doctors by saying the GM is wrong too many times.

Benning can walk up to Roussel without even asking a team doctor of Roussels health .

Rouss here are your three options.

1) You are not fast enough anymore we can put you on the taxi squad and practice every day but you are not playing anymore because you are too slow.

2) You can go on LTIR and rehab and practice every day until you reach a NHL level again.

3) You can go on LTIR next year and stay home
