Demko was good! Bubble good :-)

Not the most artistic & entertaining game, but the boys looked faster, played harder and with more pressure on puck, for good stretches. Love that Hamonic finishes his checks and Myers had a strong game (his best of the year?).

The Oilers only have 1.5 forward lines...CM & LD each played 26 minutes, while RNH had 20. By comparison, Bo had 18, Miller 21.

Take the 2 points & move on to the next...

I enjoyed the game, hard fought battle of a couple average teams.
I will take this style over the run and done style they try to play.
Myers was awesome again last night.Jake on a nice stretch of good games, amazing how that happens, when you actually play the kid on a decent line.

Also, Edler❤

Edler played almost half the game. He is going to leave a big hole (& opportunity) on the left side when he retires (or moves on). He’s slow, can’t shoot the puck on net, sprawls all over the ice in his own end, but still night after night he is their most reliable & responsible d-man.

He will be back for at least one more season. He is still the teams best defender.
Be nice when the team only needs to rely on him for a solid 18 minutes, instead of having to rely on him for 24-26 per game.

Crazy what happens to players that get off Sutter's line.

Only 3 goals on the season though. Start of the year has wrecked him this season.

The Canucks were awful through 40 minutes. I don’t know what happened in the room during the second intermission but more of that please.

I’ll take Michey and Howsey over Beags and Rous all day. Nice to see some actual speed at the bottom.

Oilers need a goalie

Even on Willie Desjardins appreciation night, when the Canucks rolled out a bottom six that was one Chaput away from perfection, Demko stopped 34 out of 35 shots, giving him a, I guess we could call it decent, save percentage of .971.

Demko is now proudly carrying on the tradition left behind by the Scrumlord Jacob Markstrom of playing so well that it can hide a lot of a team’s flaws. Such is the power of top-level goaltending.

Now, if you wanted to be cynical, you could wonder if the team will lean too heavily on results garnered from a goalie playing out of his mind and not make appropriate changes to create a top-level team.

But, if you want to be an eternal optimist, you can say that having a top-level goaltender is part of building a great team, so you will sit back and patiently wait for the latest two-year plan to kick in.

Definitely need to change out that bottom 6. Wonder, since ManVan posted it, if Graovac will be able to get into the lineup.

Bailey, Graovac, Motte, Hawryluk, MacEwen, Michaelis, Gaudette, Virtanen... so many options to create a faster, more hitting bottom 6. That's not even taking in to account young guys that might make a push next year. I think it's time to sit a few vets and see what the new guys can do with a string of games.

Good mornin all

So I’ve not been in here much for the past 7 weeks due to long night shifts. Seems to me with us chasing the Habs our horrible play against them has us looking out of the PO’s.

They need to gain 6-8 points to have a realistic shot at the playoffs, with only 25 games to go. It should be time to start falling in the standings to get a higher draft pick and more picks.

Players to move: Pearson, Sutter, Benn
Potentials to move: Hamonic, Edler
God wouldn't it be nice to move: Beagle, Baertschi, Rous

TDL is April 12th

Finding highlights on players this season is quite difficult.

For some reason watching games on onhockey has become next to impossible due to pop ups and bad links since Feb.

I did slap together a list of 51 players over 65 spots over the past week. I'm still waiting to see some players from the WHL and OHL though.

I would sell early to make sure players are sold. No need to have a Hammer incident where one team is going to choose between two players and choose the other.

Good win.
What did that self entitled Baertchi do that he’s not even an option for this team?
