Darryl Sutter quoted today on the Flames website:
"In the back of my mind, losing in Game 7 with the Flames ... was the one thing that always led me to say, 'OK, if it was the right situation, I'd go back again.'
"I'm not interested in coaching 31 teams. I'm not interested in coaching just to coach.
I'm coaching STRICTLY to win a Stanley Cup and that's it. Nothing else.
"It's a hard job being a head coach and it takes it toll, and the only reward for a head coach in today's game is what's at the end of the tunnel."

That's exactly what I suspected when he was hired. I 'm certain that the first thing he told the team was " I'm here to help you win what we should have had in 2004."
I predict there will be no major changes. He's got the players he needs right now. There isn't time to work new players into the mix.
But what he did with an average team at best in 2004 was nothing short of a miracle. Imo, this team, by comparison, is like night and day compared to that team. He also has Conroy and Gelinas to help get the message across and keep the team motivated.
This year, one team from Canada is guaranteed to be in the final four. That's only happened 7! times since 1993 - so this year the odds for a Canadian team to get to the finals are as good as they'll ever be.
If anyone can do it Darryl can do it. Imo, 2004 was even more exciting than 1989 because no one ever imagined they could go that far.
I'm putting money on it before Las Vegas reduces the odds. Obviously, nothing's guaranteed but the odds will be changing pretty quick over the next few weeks so if you're going to do it now's the time.
And if for some reason they don't make it, we'll know that they gave it everything they had. We can't ask for more than that.
Thank you Darryl.
