He's having a crap season in a contract year. He's a proven 30 goal scorer but if you don't have players around him he isn't necessarily going to drive play consistently. Depends what the market turns into in this weird season since players have the quarantine before joining their new team. I could see it being all over the place.

I think he could be a good fit for us. Lee is going to be out for a while...

This is probably a good time to ask what you think we would have to give up for Palmeri?
- Cptmjl

I have no clue. I think no less than a 2nd. If this was a normal Palmieri year.. I mean I think you want a 1st. Coleman got a 1st plus Foote!

Islanders should have played Schneider. Would have been guaranteed shutout.

Nothing is guaranteed!

yeah, i'm confused. Greene will always be a Devil to me and I hope the Islanders go deep to get him a chance at a cup.

He had a no trade clause & he waived it! He didn't have to do that! He most certainly didn't have to resign with the Islanders!

He was a long time Devil & never won one. I don't want him to win a Stanley Cup with another team, especially with a rival, most especially because HE'S A TRAITOR!

I would be pretty happy to give up a 2nd and a B level prospect for him.

We have enough B level prospects so at a reasonable cost we should just resign Palms. Either a first or a decent prospect in a deal...gotta dream big.

I hear you. Interested to see what he gets the devils. Not having the best season but is obviously a good, consistent, player normally.

so who you rooting for to win the Cup? I'd like Vegas to win one before their window closes, but how can you not pull for Jumbo Joe? If only he didn't play for the Leafs. Maybe Florida is my #3 team.. because they're the Panthers and are.. the Panthers lol. Vegas winning may be perfect to kick off ESPN/NHL in the states.

Even though I hated this team in the mid 2000’s due to our playoff losses, I really enjoy watching Rod B coach the Canes. Living in SC, I see all the Hurricanes games on local tv and they’re a fun bunch to watch. So I’m rooting for them, but not sure they have the goaltending to win it all.

Nope (frank) that guy
- shvingter88

Completely agree. And Eff Guerin too! I still hold a grudge for his stupid hold out in the ‘90’s.

He waived it because THE DEVILS asked him to. This is degenerate thinking.

Then the season was a success.. kind of. I'd say Johnsson and Nico are a draw.
The rest are older or replaceable so they don't matter. Just a shame the trade value is crap for Palms/Gusev.

I think that guy is just a (frank)ing moron, honestly. I don't remember Devils-Islanders ever being a rivalry and our fanbases have always been friendly in our united hate of the Rangers.

Jake Gardiner on waivers from the Canes for cap reasons, ive seen a lot of people on Twitter bringing out the advanced analytics and saying they want us to claim him. What do you guys say here?

I wouldn't hate it, 2 more years left after this year and we likely will need bodies on the back end next season especially if we prefer the young kids to cook in the A for a bit longer and keep developing(which they all need). As of late, all of our D except Ty and Severson have been pretty bad so i wouldn't mind bringing him in and seeing how he does

In the 80s the Islanders were a huge rival culminating in the playoffs of 88. Granted its been pretty quiet since then, but it was a real thing for a number of years. I am stuck out on Long Island, when the Islanders sucked me and my boys went to every game the Devils played them, always a friendly atmosphere and had good fun until the last 3-4 years since winning. Their fan base is becoming intolerable Aholes again....

I hear your points, but no thanks. Zero upside. I feel like his upside is simply being almost as competent as Kulikov..

I think you might be underplaying how good Gardiner's possession metrics are. He is a really solid defenseman that would cost us nothing to acquire. Now, I understand the money attached to his contract isn't nothing but we have so much cap space available.

Heard a stat on NHL on SiriusXM radio that said the Buffalo Sabres have lost 15 of 18. Their 3 wins have been against the New Jersey Devils.
