I would make this trade anyway. It may not be enough to get the Flyers in PO, but anytime you can get a top 4 Dman you have to jump on it, especially given the disarray we are currently seeing with this defense.
- jd250

imo ghost has not been nearly as big of an issue as others have. It just seems like a fairly lateral move to give up that much for someone that is 30 years old.

Islanders, Penguins, Bruins and Caps all win tonight, hole getting deeper
- jd250

Theres no hole yet. Flyers have 2 games in hand on WSH and PIT. Need to win the next few VS these teams. Flyers still have 11 games VS BOS\WSH\PIT

The ready made excuse is covid and lack or practice time is hurting our coaching and young players...but other teams are getting it do, so...This team better turn it around quick or it will be yet another mediocre season. Even when we were winning games the problems were obvious, now those games are losses and the problems remain.
- darkerens

There are no excuses in hockey.....if you win it’s good...if you lose it’s not so good. All teams are facing the same poop. It’s really up to Fletcher, AV and the players to get it figured out, and quickly. Yes one trade won’t help. But standing by and doing nothing borders on stupidity. I was fine with Myers sitting tonight, but the list is pretty long for other guys who deserve it as well....teams a mess.

I'd avoid this unless you're looking for something to cure your insomnia. It's just awful. Read the Wikipedia page about the Submarine Murder and it will be more entertaining without the waste of time.

Beartown on the other hand... Hockey is on the periphery of the main plot but it's much less boring. By the end of Episode 3 (of 5) you'll be waiting for more.

- Bendecko

It’s definitely slow paced, but I enjoyed it. I like the way they didn’t give any time to the piece of poop murderer. You never see him. I read a little about the murder too. The murderer is an interesting guy. It would have been easy to focus the series on him, but I thought it was powerful the way they approached it.

Break it on down
Bless you
Bless you
I want to bless you
Bless you
Where are you going
My beautiful friend
Is this the road that
You take till the end
And if we left behind
Is this the highway
Of our mankind
Axes spins so round and round we go
Where we're goin' no one really knows
Here we here we here we here we go
Feel the fire
Way down below

You stated multiple times just today that the only way for this team to get better is to make a trade. If that is true, why doesn't an experienced GM like Fletcher see that also?
- MJL

A trade I doubt fixes this team this season.
Any trades have to be done for the longer term team benefit.
The team defense is trash. The attention to hockey fundamentals is trash for the flyers right now.
I’d rather see Fletch do nothing than make a trade to contend this year because it’s not happening at this point in time.

I would agree and I can see one of them getting moved. The issue is I don’t see either player getting a return of value so they would most likely be included in a package deal.
Jake and or JVR and any dman not named Provorov could be traded.
Not that Provorov has been great or very good but he’s the best of the bad.

I don't think Fletcher is an aggressive GM, and thus I don't have confidence he will make a move.

Again, Ekholm would be the best defenseman on this team if acquired. Its far from a lateral move.

Ghost has had some hiccups but has played much better in the last few weeks.

And he is signed through next year as well. He would make the Flyers better this year and next.

AV looked down and drawn at his post game presser tonight. I really think this team is tuning him out, and if so Fletcher has got to move players, because AV is a good, proven hockey coach.

And you can sign him for another 4 years if he works out. Its a no brainer IMO.

Did Giroux bang your wife or something. I have never seen a person have such a hard on for a particular player year after year.
Maybe therapy might be on your future.

They simply aren't a good team right now. As you state, a fundamental mess. This has to be fixed internally. No trade is going to fix it. That has not changed. Unless something changes soon, the GM has to properly assess the team and not choose to be a buyer at the deadline.

I don't see the basis for making this claim. When Fletcher took over, he made multiple moves. Including signing Kevin Hayes to a big free agent contract. Trading for Niskanen.

Besides Hez, Roo: protect TK, JVR, Couts, Laughton and Nopa.

Expose Voracek and Oskar. They will take Raffl over those 2 anyway!

Yes, I want them to make a deal for sure because I don't think this team is good enough and will not become good enough. However I have no confidence that Fletcher will make a move.
- jd250

Bring back Homer.... Everything gets fixed.

If I remember correctly Eklund saying the Flyers were running away with it this year along with Hart being a star and like winning Vezina or something

That is overrating Ekholm. Trading a top 4 younger defenseman in Gostisbehere plus a 1st round pick is an overpayment.

Agressive or not it’s the GMs job to try and make the team better for now and the future. His job isn’t to sit back and hope they get better while doing nothing.

Its one thing to sign a FA and trade a player like Radko Gudas, its a completely different thing to implement a good hockey trade where you are potentially giving up good assets, mid season.
