that is the Canucks defensive posture most games.

I like the players, we’ve seen how well they can play, but there are too many games like this, and it rest with the system of play that the coaching staff implemented.

Yeah I have nothing against Green but something needs to change. When everyone plays their best, its a competitive team, but its too few and far between. They weather the storm more often than they take it to the opposition

Looks like he takes a puck off his face and is slow to react. Hard to blame a guy for a mistake after a puck to the face.

This clip captures their defense in my mind. Miller gliding, young player (Michaelis) overmatched, Hughes sealed off on the wrong side, Hamonic getting tied up, and the winger collapsing down the crease, all while Demko still has to make a great save

not to defend a guy that just took a puck off the face, and tried to get back into the play, (unlike the OV video) but what were the other players doing.

Everything always reverts back to Myers, sure trade Myers, send him to Seattle, this team will then be a contender?

I found the game absolutely disgusting, bloody embarrassing, when JT Miller is fighting to rally the team it's going to be a poop show.

A lack of action from the GM, IMO, shows he is satisfied with the crap product Green has this team play.

It's his sitting still 1.5 feet in front of Demko with an open guy in the slot. If he recognized him faster, he probably wouldn't have taken a puck to the face

Myers isn't the issue. I've said many times I appreciate what Myers brings. The whole team D is lacking, and everyone is getting exposed, including Myers. That said, I do think his contract is going to hamper the Canucks in a couple years when they're really starting to compete (much like Beagle and Sutter are now), so if Seattle takes his contract off the books it's better for the long term outlook of the club.

I have never really been a fan of Greens style, but when he had the team play the 1st two rounds in last playoffs I gave him quite a bit of praise. I really though he had figured out how to adjust, and then Vegas came and we saw a team collapse defensively with no adjustments to the onslaught Vegas brought.

But this just doesn’t rest on Greens shoulders, yes he is head coach, but each coach has influence and to me it’s clear they either want the team to play this collapsing style, or the players think this is the best way to defend in their own end.

Montreal plays a similar, high-intensity, high-pressure system that Vegas does. The Canucks couldn't figure it out then, they can't figure it out now.

TG seems to want a puck control team, but the players just aren't up to snuff on that. How many times have they got the puck in their own zone, then skate or pass back into pressure, giving the puck away? It's crazy making.

I guess we all see different scenarios on how we view positions, I see a guy at the top of the slot not being marked by a Canuck (Hughes in this case) forcing Myers to charge out...do not the other players on the ice bare responsibility to play defensively.

I would have singled out Hughes for floating in the top slot, and then floating to the corner, not taking the man and allowing the pass.

Put the blame on Myers contract to the GM that gave it to him, or the GM that traded for him, not Myers fault you would rather pay him a buck fifty.

Not to be in disagreement Vintage, but the standing around is in reference to playing 20 feet from the opposition moving their sticks from the left to the right while the puck is being passed between the entire Montreal team.

Canucks never once set up in the Ozone because Montreal would pressure the Canuck with the puck, and anyone that a Canuck wanted to pass to was also well covered.

- Makita

What I’m saying is that I don’t think the Canucks players weren’t trying. When MTL was owning them in their zone, guys were getting beat to pucks, weren’t able to knock down cross seem passes, weren’t able to muscle guys out of the way. Hey, maybe that’s coaching, maybe it’s skill/ability, maybe it’s some combination. I’m no professional but I’ve played enough to know when my team is outmatched we look pretty bad, running around, out of position etc.

It was just one gif from an article, but again, it's not all Myers' fault – the team around him needs to be better, himself included. He makes a number of bad plays each game, but so does the rest of the defense. He's a good number 4 guy.

And I don't blame Myers for signing that contract. I hope you don't blame LE, or Beagle, or Sutter for theirs. We agree, at least, it's the GM's fault

Will Lockwood is not a large man, but don’t expect him to play like he isn’t one. This isn’t a one-off from him this season. He’s dishing the hits on the regular. Speedy player who does this seems kinda useful as a Tyler Motte type down the road.
