Anyone ever notice that we ALWAYS have someone in perfect position to prevent the drop pass and never do?

That's not what he said in his interview.

I found the game absolutely disgusting, bloody embarrassing, when JT Miller is fighting to rally the team it's going to be a poop show.

A lack of action from the GM, IMO, shows he is satisfied with the crap product Green has this team play.

Far to easy to blame 3 guys when all the others stand around or chase swinging a stick at the opposition. Ever notice how every other team pressures constantly but our guys stand and allow multiple passes with no effort to pressure, really awesome coaching strategies, just leave it to the two defence guys to break up the play while everyone collapses.

Hey, hey, hey, Green has helped developed notable nhl players throughout his career, starting in WHL, when he was head coach for Seth Jones, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Leipzig, Petan, Rattle, Leier, DeLeo, Pouliot, Witherspoon, and Turgeon.
In the ahl, Archibald, Biega, Gaunce, Baertschi, Hutton, Markstrom all were developed by Green.
That is a pretty successful record of developing nhl talent, although mostly very fringe talent.

Jake mentioned in an interview, that he doesn't want to get out of position from making a hit, which is somewhat understandable, for him as he is always in the doghouse, but, as a winger and you hit or takeout a defenseman, how the fuck can you end up out of position?
These coaches have coached physicality out of the game, here in Vancouver.

The IDGAF numbers are getting quite high lately for the Canucks fans.
Does that mean we do or don't have a chance?

No chance.

I agree, physicality is being coached out of the game. Sad.

In reality it is the number of people who are complaining they DGAF is on the rise but if they in fact really DGAF they would be gone.

I agree they've coached the physicality down (TG wants a faster team), so watching Montreal hem with Canucks in by being fast AND physical was painful to watch.

As for JV, it's pretty easy to make a hit and be out of position. Like when a D pinches, even if he takes his guy, he's pulling himself out of position and exposing a hole. If JV is supposed to be playing high or pressuring to a certain area and then makes a run at a guy across the rink, he's taking himself out of position to make that hit.

To be fair Makita, I don’t believe that any of the players “stood around allowing multiple passes with no effort”. I think that generally speaking the player personnel just isn’t good enough to compete with an actual good NHL team on the regular. So I agree, the coaching staff hasn’t done enough to adopt a system that plays the the strengths (Goaltending, PP) and mitigates the weaknesses (pretty much everything else).

The same"mistakes" and effort level get repeated over and over, continually.
Could it be that the 4 player offensive system that Green likes, just doesn't work, like it did in the 80's?

- Reubenkincade

Players have no clue where they are playing as we have no need for line designations anymore. Three 'scoring lines' are more important lol

Good effort from the east coast. I tortured myself for a 2nd period. Awful game.

lol I just caught the hi lites looked pretty weak out there. Was Miller supposed to fight someone? Again I don't mind him at C but the long term minutes and assignments I don't personally think he can handle. Leave it to Bo.

I f"ing know I should have took MTL on the pick 3...

It's very sad. And accountability too. Now we are back to trading Miller, Sutter and Pearson JV and Gaudette. How much for Debrusk and Bennett?

Discuss.

It was a bit weird (the Miller fight). He did get into it with someone the previous shift, came to the bench slamming the gate behind him. Maybe he was getting even? Or maybe he was trying to rile the guys up, not really sure - also you don’t see a fight between the C and D very often off the puck drop.

The reason they don’t know what a record player is is because nobody calls it that anymore.

I think its becoming obvious how a talent like Miller was made available by Tampa. I really liked him when he was a Ranger and then didn't follow him much when he was moved to Tampa other than he started on the top line and eventually was a powerplay and bottom 6 guy there at the end. The team needs his offense but his defense looks like unplugged Ovechkin these days

Not to be in disagreement Vintage, but the standing around is in reference to playing 20 feet from the opposition moving their sticks from the left to the right while the puck is being passed between the entire Montreal team.

Canucks never once set up in the Ozone because Montreal would pressure the Canuck with the puck, and anyone that a Canuck wanted to pass to was also well covered.

My only thinking with Miller is that he is worth an all time high in value. If we are 2 years from competing, that means the asset we get will be ready to contribute at that time, whereas Miller may price himself out of Vancouver.
That is my reasoning for trading him.

that is the Canucks defensive posture most games.

I like the players, we’ve seen how well they can play, but there are too many games like this, and it rest with the system of play that the coaching staff implemented.

Happy with the future, or the past, or is he happy just day to day?
