I am right with you. I will never understand why people hate Giroux for being the best player on teams that were not good at all. I am fine with criticizing his playoffs last year. Before that just shut up.

It wasn't poor. Including the 4th round pick made it obvious to me that you were being sarcastic.
But what about playoffs from post -Pittsburgh 2012 to before last year?

I confess my starting to watch hockey coincided with those years, so my perspective of those times was not the most informed. I could be wrong, but I remember a lot of acceleration, not deceleration, and a lot of cherry-picking and hanging out near blue line waiting for breakaways. - PT21
Nah, he wasn't a one-trick pony. Could score in every conceivable way.
This is him versus peak NJ Devils trap era defense, including two HOF defensemen (Stevens, Niedermeyer):

It seems my rimpressions/recollections are quite faulty. In the first clip you posted, the second half shows him on the pk. I thought he was not the pk type at all. But I read up, and apparently he was a defensive stud in the early part of his career. I mostly remember him with Florida though.
If he was such a defensive stud, and Federov could play Norris caliber D when he played both positions, how did the myth of the selfish Russian forward, uninterested in playing D become so predominant in the 90s? Who exemplified it? How did it start? I kind of thought Bure was part of the myth.

Definitely trade or give away Voracek. He was a great part of our core, but he's not the player he was four years ago. And he's not ever going to be any better than he is right now, and likely he will get worse and worse very fast -- and he has never made a difference in the playoffs. G is a different animal. He's lost his energy and his speed but he's still an amazing passer and playmaker and face off winner, and just to be real, flyers will never trade him.
The only way to break up the core is to send away Voracek. Coots is amazing. G is going nowhere.
I would take G, he has looked good IMO since he has been back from COVID. I don't understand all the hate for him ( not just picking out you) .
He was great last night in the face off circle as well. What has Jake done ?
Jake skates around, doesn't shoot, turns puck over. Maybe he needs a change of scenery. I think a " core " move should be done, but can it during the season? - 3flyerkids
Yeah at least he tries. Kind of getting tired of watching Hayes cough up the puck after 14 minutes of holding on to it and then do absolutely nothing with it. Everyone's trying, everyone's working hard, I get it. But this guy has to start making quicker decisions. But I guess at 28, c'est la hayes.
I dont think he works well with TK either. Id actually like voracek and hayes on a line together. Voracek passes and alleviates hayes of thinking so he can just shoot it topshelf and be done with it.
Patrick being paid like a call up. Fans wanting him to play like Lindros in his prime. - SuperSchennBros
I don't want to lose Nolan. He's so young. If he figures out a few things about the NHL style of play, and it clicks, well he's got a lot of upside. Trade value is so low right now anyway. And you said it... he's cheap
Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn't Bee be a 3rd year guy and thus not exempt? Draft is after this season, so Bee would have completed two full years? - PT21
Nipped back here to correct myself based on what I happened to come across. The expansion draft is on June 29. New year on contracts apparently starts July 1. (I thought it was at the end of the playoffs).
