He had 2 points in 6 games. 5 points in 15 career games.

I was too lazy to look up his stats but I thought he was more effective than that last playoffs.

He's a jersey guy (Philly suburb), he's engaged to a Philly nurse.... What would you do if you were him sign with one of the many teams within a couple hours of home or have a cross continent relationship?
Its a no brainer if you can manage the asset you trade him at 1st opportunity!!!!!!

- DEDDIE

Depends on how he feels. Maybe he doesn't want to go home. He’s said countless times how much he enjoys it in Calgary, it may just be smoke and mirrors. The only person that knows how he truly feels is him, though. I do agree that if there’s any inclination that he wants to leave to get rid of him.

How has Tkachuk done in the playoffs? Whine about Gaudreau all you want, but if Tkachuk had shown up for more than a game in each series, the results would've been a lot different.

Tkachuk'd playoff strategy of acting like a lunatic in game one, then playing scared the rest of the way hasn't worked out too well.

- Hunkulese

He got hurt from an Oleksiak hit in game 2 and played injured the rest of the way.

I think we’re all in agreement that we’d rather trade him than lose him for nothing a year later. I also feel like many of us myself included have been a little brainwashed into thinking he’s automatically gone. While I will say that the odds are greater this time around he could have also went anywhere he wanted out of college and still chose to come here which is encouraging. Also most of the reports on Gaudreau wanting back east have come from Eric Francis who we all know likes to smear those he dislikes and isn’t exactly a reliable source. I can’t say what direction this best for this team but basing opinions on the work of a con-man seems like the last place I’d start

He didn't play at all the rest of the way and didn't do much before that. Tkachuk's only had one stellar playoff game in his career but gets a free pass while everyone whines about Gaudreau not being a playoff performer even though his numbers aren't awful.

Gaudreau has never been the issue. He's been an amazing value for only 6.75. The issue is the players around him, including playoff Tkachuk. In the Colorado series, Tkachuk was great in game one, got crunched by Zadorov, and disappeared for the rest of the series. Against Winnipeg, he was scared of the retribution for Scheifele.

That’s exactly where this team deserves to be.

I'm curious to see what the first practice with Sutter will look like?!
Anyone know if the media is allowed to attend?

By all accounts they got bag skated and it was a tough practice. Lines mixed up.
I’m sure we’ll hear a bunch of players saying great things about the new practice mentality but what else are they going to say??

Some observations:

Lucic and Benny both -11, so their crash and bang comes at a cost.

Six players with 0 points, including Leivo and Nesterov that becomes 4 points.

One d-pairing with positive +/-

Monahan 5 goals (7th on team) in 24 games

Both goalies have very similar numbers, was our $6M investment worth it?

They'll sleep like babies tonight. (Actually, the bagskate was only 3 minutes!)

and an encouraging recap of the practice (Spoiler: It's Eric Francis..)

Love it... looks like my practices when all I say is 'pucks in the net' and hear moans and groans about the upcoming bag skate!!!!!

Eric Francis is such a piece of sh!t. Even today you could hear him trying to frame questions into a negative article.

Are you actually serious about our goalies? Markstrom the only reason we’re not last in the division.
Imo Monahan needs to go, he’s invisible unless on the powerplay. Wtf happened to that budding captain the Flames drafted. Is it drugs? Too much money?

That's a pretty big stretch. He hasn't been worth six million yet. His numbers are pretty mediocre and worse than Talbot's last year, Rittich's the year before, and Smith's the year before that.

He's having his worst statistical year as a starter and has been below average since the start of February. Who knows where they'd be if they had resigned Talbot and spent the extra space on someone more useful than Simon, Nordstrom, or Leivo.

Completely agree with all of this. And, Rittich would have faired much better if the D didn't hang him out to dry in several of the games he's played this year. Bottom line is, this is a team sport and the Flames have not played as a team for more than a handful of games this season. Let's hope that Darryl can get through to them.

They're freakin coastin' for half of each lap. I'm guessing Darryl told them "this is just a taste. If you don't want full on bag skates or to ride the pine, then I better see some F***ing effort come game time!"

Yes, but it was still more effort than they put in during the actual games
