The thing is Adam Sandler was great in the role and there was a lot of Oscar buzz for him, so I think it inflated the movie.

Of course. It was a predictable movie. Those brothers are good filmmakers, but the stories are terrible. I tried watching that movie Good Time they did and it had the same panicky depressing feel.

I took point in organizing outings to the indi theatre that year to go see all those. I was the only one that came out of uncut liking it. But the people that came with me to Parasite and the Lighthouse were much more pleased.

Lighthouse was good, but you have to be in the right mood. Parasite was (frank)ed up. I watched it thinking it was supposed to be a horror movie. It's also a depressing (frank)ing movie, but very good.

Lighthouse very obviously should have won cinematography. When I watched 1918 I knew it was gonna win for the continuous shot gimmick and accepted it, but the lighthouse was definitely the coolest movie of that year.

I know it’s over long, self indulgent, and predictable, but something about it: Midsommar I think was my favorite movie that year.

I liked Midsommar, but I was expecting something different. I thought it was supposed to be in the same universe as Hereditary.
