Maybe Beauvillier gets a shot on the first line they had some success in the past. Plus maybe it’ll light a fire under his ass and he can put up some points till Lee gets back. Also wouldn’t mind seeing Wahlstrom get some time with Barzal at some point. I’m sure trotz will mix it up a bit if Lee is out for a bit.

I actually thought MDC looked good with Barz/Eb on his shifts last night. Although I don’t personally like the idea or think it will happen, he had jump, set up Barzal with a nice pass that almost turned into a goal and as someone else mentioned, put a bunch of pucks on net.

I don’t get the MDC love. Yeah he hustles and that’s great but he has zero offensive skill. I mean zero! He is a 4th line player at best and he can’t crack the isles 4th line. They need to upgrade on the 3rd line wing. If they can add just a little skill with Pageau and Wahlstrom that line would be nasty. If Lee is out a while they are facked up front. You can get by a game or two but if he is out 3-4 weeks that’s bad

Meh he has no business on that line imo. Lee plays a game that won’t be replaced and I don’t think trotz should even bother trying to do so with the likes of Martin or MDC in front of the net. Just throw beauvillier up there and call it a day. They’ve had success in the past with Barzal, Beau, and eberle and that’s the way to go imo. Promote Wahlstrom to the second maybe give him some looks on the first line and fill in the gaps with whoever on the 2nd and third line and hope we can hold it together.

I was just saying he looked like he had jump but I also said in “personally don’t like the idea.” I guess in the back of my mind was thinking Trotz might give him a shot, however, I agree with what you said, nobody can do what Lee does. Whatever Trotz does I am sure will work and if not he’ll make something work. We’re definitely going to miss Lee. He’s been a beast lately.

I am the furthest thing from an MDC lover. I agree if they can get someone else to play with Pag and Wahlstrom that line will be deadly. Also agree about Lee. But I think we have better depth at forward (which isn’t saying a hell of a lot) than D right now so might not be that bad. As I write that I’m trying to think what the third line will be and I guess it might actually suck w MDC and Komarov there for a prolonged period of time. Fuk we’re doomed. 😭😭

Play the man Leddy.

Leddy did not have a good game. Frustrating to watch him last night. .. especially on the PP.

Beauvillier-Barzal-Eberle
Bellows-Nelson-Bailey
Wahlstrom-Pageau-MDC
Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck

Martin takes Lee’s spot on the PP. Keep Wahlstrom with Pageau. Those two are starting to gell.

I didn’t catch where you said you loved MDC?)

In a perfect world no one gets injured but when they do, guys have to step up and sometimes players prove themselves in a situation or line that you never thought they could play on.
All the forwards have to step up and try to fill the void that losing Lee brings.
Bolts won the cup last year without Stamer, so you just have to keep playing your game not feel sorry for yourself and keep positive.

Trotz was about as Heated as he gets talking to his PP coach last night. Hopefully that will wake them up a bit. Not sure why these guy forget about why they had success. they got guys to front of net.. shot the puck and either tipped or jammed in a rebound. ... they had one goal by Brock that was a finese play and now they refuse to do the greasy play. they jut keep passing it around looking for the perfect play until they give up the puck. .... get guys in front and throw it on net.

Ironic that Bailey who NEVER shoots... finally shoots when there isn't a soul screening the goalie.

Obvioulsy, like everyone else I am hoping our Captain is OK.. but Beau and Barzal is going to be fun to watch.

all you Martin contract haters... He has 5 goals this year. Hall 2, Eichel 2, zib 3, Giroux 4, Voracek 3, Skinner 1,

now compare the contracts.

yeah... I don't get the MDC stuff either.. He is a perfect Taxi squad guy. He will never be what we hoped him to be on draft day. He is a 4th line fill in.. period.

The Capitals have gone 8-1-1 in their last 10 games...and lost ground on the #Isles. Now they know what the rest of the Metro has felt like the last 5 years.

Martin has been great. Hopefully he can be for the next three years after this one. I’ll assume that even some on here probably finally understand the importance and impact of even an 1.5 million dollar cap hit.

Lee going down last night is tough.
I’m hoping it’s a high Ankle sprain or les vs an MCL ACL injury.
You know with Lou, we will probably never know what exactly it is.
Once an MRI is done (hopefully today which means not that swollen) we will get the LBI BS.

Hopefully he is fine and plays this weekend. If not we use his cap hit to acquire someone on an expiring contract.

How much time he misses is going to factor into that.

The cap goes away for the playoffs, but if we were going to place him on LTIR to make space to bring someone in then he'd essentially have to be out for about two months....which is the remainder of the regular season. If the timeline is the long-side of 6-8 weeks, we could (in theory) go out and pick up someone like Taylor Hall with the LTIR cushion. Lee could come back for the playoffs and that would be a hell of a lineup.

Otherwise, we could probably put him on LTIR but would have to be cap compliant when he comes back which would be extremely tough (if not impossible) if we acquired someone with a big cap hit.
