Same here, don't know where the money is coming from but everybody is getting a new car, buying a new house or renovating their entire house.
- Fredobbface

I think the attitude is, that if you not spending thousands on vacations, you might as invest into a new vehicle, renos, etc.

That's mine anyway.

in Quebec "soda" is more frequently used than "pop", although I think the most popular expression would be liqueur

Going shopping for a car in covid is going to be fun. Anybody bought a car recently?
- stinger67

it's actually a very good time to buy a car. i've read about it in all the car mags.

you can get a great deal because the industry has been affected so much.

That would make sense, but prices of houses are insane right now. Maybe not a good time to buy. I don't know about cars.

My week in jamaica usually costs less than a new kitchen but yeah it makes sense. I'm probably doing a couple upgrades at my campsite myself this spring

No, looking for new or used?
- Fredo

Used...2017 max, but I'd prefer 2018 or 2019 depending on the price.

Might be more complicated from individuals, I would look at the bigger ones like H gregoire or mtl auto prix who have protocols in place

Like Coca Cola is a liqueur? That's normally a term for say, irish cream, where I'm from

If shopping for a new car...

Figure out exactly what you want and the options, send an email to all the dealerships in your area selling that brand, ask them for the best deal on that car, pin the best offers against each other. You control the process, you are buying. Don't let them force you to put any money down to get a serious offer.

They are all desperate to make sells, let them fight for it.

If you are financing or leasing, figure out what works best for you with their online tools. Don't let them force you in dealing with them only, you won't get the best deal possible.

- Symba007

Yeah, went through a car salesman course when I was in my 20s. They won't get me with their Jedi mind tricks attempts.

I'm looking to buy, but I'm patient. My car still works...my plan was to change last spring but then I got furloughed because of the pandemic, so I put that project aside. I generally keep my cars a long time, so I'm in no urge to buy now, and I'll take my time.

yup, while it's still the same term used at SAQ for some alcoholic beverages, it's commonly (perhaps incorrectly lol) used to describe pop. technically it's supposed to be "boisson gazeuse" but barely anyone ever says that
