I would rather the Leafs target Jenner and Savard instead of Foligno

How much do you think Foligno cost? He's UFA at the end of this season and is 33.

A 2nd and a mid-tier prospect?

- mjones242

I would offer a 2nd, to start. Not sure how much more.

I don’t know who first raised the idea of Granlund from the Preds but I think that’s what they do. Complete their their line for bits and pieces
- Canada Cup

Not sure why the Leafs would want to bring in a small W for a playoff push. Granlund may be defensively responsible (oversold, IMHO - he rarely gets dZone starts) but his possession numbers aren't great and he's not really useful at C at all.

1/2 clapper from the boards almost, worse then anything Dead Fred has let in this year.

Also earlier in this year Matthews passed it 5 hole on the same goalie.

I think we’re a little tough on our tender regardless who it is...just me.

Off to work i go, that’s worse then our goalies!!!

I don't see the need to add Foligno.. If the Leafs move Kerfoot, I hope they get a guy that can play C in return.

I don't think we need Savard at this point (off-season acquisition?) but Jenner would be a real nice fit and he has another year left which, apparently, is big for Dubas.

I like Foligno too but would prefer Jenner if the cost isn't ridiculous.

Something weird I just noticed:

If you look at Buffalo's schedule, they don't have nearly as many 2-game and 3-game sets vs. the same opponent.

I guess for that division, travel is so much easier that they didn't need to do it.

I have to admit: I'm a little tired of playing the same opponent twice or three times in a row.

Cush, as a goalie, do you not watch him, and see the going down too early, overplaying the shooter, flailing around all over the place, and the obligatory bad goal, at least one, every game.

Freddy apologists point out that the goals were "good" if it would have been a tough save. Well the stats aren't looking very good either and the eye test tells me that Demko faced a much tougher task and performed much better.

- Aetherial

I watch him pretty closely, I actually watch goalies in all games to see how goals are scored and what goalies are doing that appears to work/not work and (perhaps more importantly) how shooters are adjusting and in turn (hopefully) goalies.

I don't see Andersen drop down early any more often than any other goalie in the league, part of sometimes why it looks that way is a deflection or blocked / partially blocked shot. I don't see him flopping or flailing around as you describe very often, definatley on a scramble or when he loses the puck but you make it sound like he is Hutch.

If you don't feel any of what you are describing is Hutch to a T then we aren't even close to watching the same goalies. I jumped on here to see how much HUTCH got ripped for the terrible game winner the other night where he was down way early, (and in fact never should have even been down in the RVH to start with) and got torched over his shoulder for the game winner. I couldn't find anyone ripping this at all, had it been Freddy.......

So do you not feel there are any "good" goals against? Maybe this is why we fundamentally disagree. I"m a goalie, I will tell you there are good goals - hard stop. Anyone who spouts off "the goalies job is to stop all the shots" I have zero time to listen to.

Freddy doesn't give up a soft goal every game - this narrative is one created and everyone now goes out of their way to 'prove' by finding a goal against and claiming it's a 'softie'. It's annoying AF to be honest.

I watched the whole game and saw zero bad goals against and I know I'm not the only one who feels this way but most of us are just silent on it and let everyone who wants to proclaim Fred is the worst in all ways do so in silence. I personally figure it allows them to not blame others and that's the end goal perhaps I just don't get it. I don't get all the hate for the starting goalie to the point people are actually saying poop like Hutch is a better option - it's crazy.

Andersen is what he is, a 5M dollar goalie who is amongst the lead leaders in wins, and has given his team a performance that is more than fair value to dollar over the length of his contract in my opinion. He's not the best in the league but he's far better than the worst.

Someone else said it but I feel the same- no goalie will ever be good enough for Leafs fans.

C'est la vie.

I knew I shouldn't have posted that little joke to Garnie and just sent him a PM instead.

As described, no.

What I notice though is so many of these goals he could not possibly stop were because he was way the (frank) out of the net playing the shooter.

Pay attention to how often he goes down and slides so that he is not covering most of the net. Even when he makes saves, he is out of position. Also look at rebounds, how early he goes down, and just the generally scrambly nature of every save.

He look rattled and without confidence. It is so bad that at this point nobody is surprised when anything goes in.

If he let in a crappy goal in the next game, would it be a shock?

- Aetherial

Are you a goalie? I ask because the #1 rule of an odd man rush is the goalie takes the shooter, the Defensive player is responsible for taking away the pass. NHL shooters are too good for the goalie to try and worry about the pass - if they do the shooter will expose them and score every single time.

The 2nd part - are you sure you aren't talking about HUTCH?

Rumors: Steve Simmons from the Toronto Sun reported that he has heard #CBJ  Nick Foligno’s name keeps popping up in #LeafsForever  rumors. Simmons said a package could include pieces like Alex Kerfoot, Rasmus Sandin, Timothy Liljegren, Nick Robertson or an early draft pick.

Steve Simmons lol

Hoping the original "perfect shot" comment was a joke (and if so it's funny) I agree with Garnie (Yes shocking) on the fact it was a complete garbage game winning soft goal that Hutch gave up and the reaction here would be much more, um, "passionate" if it had been given up by Andersen.

I'm got some meetings and stupid work stuff getting in the way of my Hockey Buzz reading today so I too am out for now.

Only slightly triggered here.
