Hmmm yeah the leafs are still 18-6-2 and 1st in the league.
I feel like this year differs from others in that we don't need to go on a rampage trashing our own players and trading them all after every loss. 🤷🏻♂️
It's a nice change, soak it in. 👍 - joel878
🤣
Trashing players? I have no problem pointing out when those players play well
Nowhere in this comment do I suggest trading anyone

Winning a playoff round hasn't really been this team's forte so I'm not penciling the Leaves in to semis or even the 2nd round.
Also, some players are trash and/or sometimes play like trash. Hence, the trashing. It's our birthright as armchair sports fans to complain -- it's half the fun! - mjones242
My point is I care about the Division and getting to the semifinals. Obviously nothing is predetermined but the Leafs remain the clear favourites to win it. Suggesting otherwise is just as silly as Roeperism.
And for lots of people, complaining is more than half the fun and I would never take it away. I will challenge the logic on occasion especially since there’s a tendency to work very hard to twist any outcome to fit into pre-existing narratives. |

4th in the league in % but Division is what matters. Win the Division, get to semifinals and see what happens. N

The one exception is Fred because he has been consistently needing to be beaked for a couple of years now. 🤣 |

My point is that the playoffs are a different beast than the regular season where "favourites to win" means very little. Until the Leafs can prove they have the ability to grind out a playoff round we shouldn't be looking past any round -- especially the first.
You'll have to excuse my ignorance as I don't understand what "Roeperism" is..?
Per your last point, are you suggesting you're immune to contorting arguments to fit your own pre-existing narratives? |

After a season of playing these same teams over and over again, at the end of the season it shouldn’t be too difficult to tell the best team in the Division. It’s actually not too hard to tell the best team in the Division right now, it’s the Leafs. The best team should come out of the Division.
Will they? Who the (frank) knows but favourites are expected to win because they are better.

Not so, Leafs worked hard for a lead and a 65' knuckler beat Andersen for the tying goal. It was a softee. On the go ahead goal, look at his positioning, Andersen is on his knees, ass high in the air face maybe two inches above the ice. Not easy to make any save from that position. Praying for it to hit you maybe. Freddy was the second best goalie yesterday by a significant margin

At the risk of repeating myself, the playoffs are a different beast. Really hoping Dubas adds more sandpaper as the whistles curiously go missing during the playoffs whilst teams amp up the grind.
All I know is I don't give a (frank) who is "expected to win". I just want them to (frank)ing win and I remain unconvinced that they have the chops until they show them chops.
You keep contortin' that "favourites" angle though, CC! |

He is horrible Garnie. You don't even have to look very far, just watch him, he is all over the (frank)ing place, down early every time the pucks get close, big rebounds, overplaying everything. stuff trickles in from everywhere and even routine saves look challenging to him. |

It is a joke that people don't see this.
Hutchinson is awful also, but even Hutchinson doesn't seem as erratic as Andersen.
As yourself this, would you really be surprised if any goal, from anywhere, at any time goes in on Ander5en? You might shake your head, be pissed... but would anyone really be surprised.

Simmonds will be a huge add. It may reduce the number of penalties Matthews gets for attacking opponents sticks with his back. That said there are a few forwards that may be available that could help at TDL. Getzlaf is a pipedream but would change the dynamic significantly. |

How is saying they are favourites to win the North a contortion? Somebody has to win it. Find anybody who picks someone else to win it. Money Puck and the Athletic both have them as clear favourites.
And of course, being expected by itself doesn’t bring any joy. It’s just something to talk about right now.
I still think the add is going to be a third line C, somebody like Granlund. |

When Freddy is on he’s really on. But way too often he’s not. I feel more comfortable with Campbell. |
