I don't know what to tell you.
Your boy is a remorseless thug.
If you think the suspension is due to some vendetta against poor Tom Wilson you are willfully ignorant. - Tonybere
Okay, well the facts are that the league changed two different precedents in this suspension. Which I said is fine. But lets not pretend they were going to do that for the Dube hit. Tanev hit. Foegele hit. etc |

No, bud. That only refers to fines, not games suspended. I thought the same thing. - shoreorrpark
Ah, well. One could argue he should have permanent repeat offender status I guess, but after reviewing the language on it, it doesn't seem to matter much. |

I guarantee you you wouldn't defend Wilson if he was on another team

I wouldn't, because I would have no reason to. But I also wouldn't feel the need to light a moral outrage over his play. He'd be just a player on another team. To a lot of you, he's supervillian #1 out to hurt guys only, etc |

but he absolutely is out there to hurt guys
how do you explain the mentality of a guy throwing a hit like he did on Sundqvist in a pre-season game? vs the Blues?
could there be anything more meaningless than an out of conference pre-season game?
that's American Psycho poop |

Probably because he IS out to hurt guys.
He saw a player engaged with someone along the boards and hit him in the face with his shoulder, both hands and his stick. That's not how you do it if you're trying to make a hockey play. |

I totally get it. Cooke was one of my favourites. The lg is a joke. Either allow everyone to play this way or call set the rules in stone and call it every damn time. |

if you get a 20 game suspension in this league for an on ice infraction, it should always remain in your repeat offender status
just because that incident was 2 1/2 years ago now and it's no longer considered recent, that's insane |

I'm fine with them changing the precedent for headshots, changing the precedent for what qualifies as illegal boarding, I'm fine with them using ol Willy Boy as the example. But it is what it is, Komarov's headshot to Eller which took him out for a few games wasn't good enough. Dube going high on Kotkanimkakakakanamamnemi(sp?) for no reason wasn't good enough. |

These are certainly good points.
No one is going to call the NHL DOPS a finely-tuned, well-oiled machine, thats for sure.
I think Wilson has a knack for making sure his hits are noticed. |

Which he brought on to himself, no arguing that. I just don't see myself saying he's out to hurt other people if he's on another team.
In the end, it just sucks to lose one of our best forwards for 7 games. |

is it too much to ask that maybe ONE TIME he lets up on a guy in a vulnerable position instead of actually hitting the guy harder BECAUSE he is a vulnerable position? |

I mean, he does all the time, which just tells me you aren't watching the Caps as much as you say you are. He just needs to do it more. |

It's a hit the league wants out, it's a hit Wilson should have avoided. But Wilson gets 7 games for it, while other players get nothing. It is what it is. - Blackstrom2
This is really the bigger problem. I won’t opine on Wilson’s hit, but the league’s handling of its own rules is a joke. Similar to when a ref makes call based on the result as opposed to if it was actually a penalty, the league analyzes who the players involved are, what teams they were from, and I don’t just mean the offending player. I mean the injured player as well. Some teams matter less in the eyes of the league.
I’m fine with seven games as long as that’s the standard they continue to uphold, but we all know they won’t. Marchand could do the same thing and get one game.
EDIT: I’m also trying very hard to not let my own personal hatred of Wilson play in to what I’m saying. |

who is absolutely goddamn nuts by the way

Wilson will receive a nicely timed elbow to his skull in due time, which will keep him out longer than 7 games...

Nobody seems to talk about Vrana in this sequence. As Carol is holding his head and falling to the ice, Vrana keeps cross-checking him all the way down. That might be worse. |

Almost every hit is after the guy moved the puck so doesn’t that make almost every hit intent to injure?
If he was out to hurt guys he would injure someone every game. (frank)ing pussies. |

Post them all from this year. No need to post the Jankowski hit. Post them all here. I have about 20 hits from this year that were not suspended that were pretty much all head shots.

Nobody is more responsible for that than Tom Wilson himself. He's a repeat predator that is clearly either too stupid or wholly unwilling to adapt and fix the way he plays. He's done this a multitude of times and that's why the league is so quick to drop the hammer on him.
I'd be willing to bet that most of the 20 hits you're referencing weren't committed by guys with multiple suspensions and/or have caused multiple head injuries. |
