That said, I do hope Seattle takes Myers in the expansion draft. I think his contract will be an anchor the last couple years, and that 6 mil could go a long way.

Agreed, it was strange they even signed the guy. I think the scouts were asleep at the wheel, he has been below average for a while

He'll get better under Ian Clarke but I doubt this fanbase has the patience. I thought he would warm a bit sooner but it's apparent Holtby is back to his old habits from last year in WAS. Should be a moot point for the remainder of this season anyways as Demko should be getting the majority of the starts here on out.

I am liking the combos that are forming. I think Myers and Benn are good and I really like Juolevi and Myers.

It took a while to get settled but all pairings are looking a lot better.

Seems like almost a decade ago.

Seen over the years how hard it is to find good everyday NHL calibre defensemen. I'd much rather lose Zac Mac than Myers in the expansion draft.

If, very hypothetically, Seattle took Myers, the Canucks could use that money as an upgrade through free agency (wet dream if Hamilton went to UFA) or trade to fill that hole.

Myers has three years left after this one . I don't think Canucks will expose him at the draft and I don't think it is a long term problem. He will cost 6 mil and his partner Juolevi will probably sign a two or three year deal under 2 mil.

I would much rather pay a #3 6M like Schmidt than a 4/5 like Myers. If Myers came in at a million and a half less would have been perfect.

I will tell you this though, 10 years ago the flyers traded both Mike Richards and Jeff Carter, to this day from those trades they have Voracek, Couturier, Farabee, and Morgan Frost in their lineup.

He has been solid over his past 5 starts to be sure maybe a sign he is coming around.

Now Green just needs to ride him out over the last half of the season without pulling the 'goalies are tired card' and schedule lol

At this point Holtby should see no more than 5 starts for the rest of the year barring injury.

Myers' spot wouldn't be filled internally – they'd have to trade or go the FA route.

It would hurt a bit in the short term, but I think in 2/3 years when they're much more competitive it will be better to not have him/his cap hit on the roster.
