Good players struggling doesn't make them bad players or what you thought they were/weren't this whole time. It's just a good player struggling. Pettersson is a legit 2nd pairing dman with a fine contract. He's just struggling right now. You all need to chill. |

Good things happen when you shoot the puck. |

I think he’s a solid 4th who was a bit elevated last year by the play of Marino. (frank) him though. |

I question whether he is a #4. That is his ceiling, though. Still not worth $4M. |

I try to be fair, optimistic, and not biased with players but I just never liked him. I can’t stand seeing him on the ice. JR has something where he thinks they are all 4m players. I think the fact that petts took that one year cheap deal to help the cap also got him some extra coin. I think he can be a decent #4. He can’t elevate. He’s pretty vanilla. But he’s generally decent in his role. |

Well how much do you think a solid #4 is supposed to cost?

Honestly, I think he's a bottom paring guy. JR falls in love with his trades and was always destined to over-pay him. He's not the worst obviously, but at 4.1, I'd be looking to deal him.

The problem isn’t necessarily that Pettersson’s contract is bad, it’s that it’s market value for a guy who was supposed to be cost controlled and in sum Rutherford gave out way too many market value contracts to second pairing defensemen. In general, Rutherford didn’t really give us any long-term value contracts besides Guentzel. Rust too but that contract isn’t very long so the value is limited. You run into problems when you have a poop ton of mid tier contracts for mid tier players, a hand full of overpayments, and very few value contracts. |

Terrible shot to take by McCann. Exhausted bodies on net and you (frank)ing throw it to the pads from below the goal line? Flyers were all flat footed and tired. Bonehead move. |

I just think there's a lot of overreacting to Pettersson right now. Yeah, he's struggling a bit this year and that's about it. I really don't have a problem with the contracts Rutherford handed out to Dumo, Petts and Marino. I have a problem with the extra contracts he's acquired.

I’m not educated enough in this to fairly evaluate someone’s worth. IMO 4m if you are a play driving and decent point producing 2nd pair Dman. He is a passenger who offers nothing special. No grit, strength, net clearing, shooting, etc . He shouldn’t be in the same pay bracket as Marino or dumo, yet I’m sure there are plenty worse Dmen that make more money that therefor could be argued he easily deserves his paycheque. Prices were just going up and up now with the flat cap they are coming down. Obviously petts got a contract on hopeful future production.

From a terrible angle. Dmen at the points were wide open and could have walked to the high slot. |

That was a nice play by him to bring the puck up from the defensive zone when Petts was busy fumbling around with it. Geno looks engaged. |
