They are only a -1 goal differential wise but that’s just because their poor play hasn’t caught up to them yet. They give up way too many high danger chances.

I agree. Players have to be tuning the coaches out based on inconsistent type of play. And even if they are listening the pp, pk, and defence are all a joke. Coaching change needs to happen for all 3.

I guess this is where you and I differ. While I'm not diluting myself by thinking this is top contender, I do believe the possibility, if the right changes are made, that the Pens could realistically make a deep run.

In 2010 ( or 2011, 2012) did you think Dats and Zetts had another cup in them? I'm not talking about the Detroit Red Wings as a whole, just those two players.

I totally think with the right pieces around those two guys they were capable of deep runs in those years...but you obviously watched them much more with more detail than I back then.

Pettersson needs to be with Marino for the offense-defense tandems. Plus Petts is way too slow to put him in a position where he may consider doing something resembling offense.

It's probably because he went offside multiple times. Hence, he went offsides.

Only one part of it is a weakness. Again, I'm not sure if this is a coaching/strategy issue or a personnel issue. I'm also not sure if it's just an all-around team issue. They all just seem to lose their bearings once players get in close.

If they are coaching them to not even try to tie up the stick of a man in front, that's incredibly terrible coaching. Maybe they are playing some type of zone that is confusing them about who covers the front of the net?

Marino on his own is struggling and started before MM. But I have wondered if having such an unreliable partner is messing with him. Going back to Pettersson-Marino which has a comfort level seems the obvious move.

Glad he's getting to play instead of wasting away on the taxi squad. D is just too crowded even if it's mostly mediocre. Hopefully O'Connor joins him there soon.

Still think he could play 3rd pair now, they just pushed him up the line-up too fast. Did want to see a little more of Freidman so hopefully he isn't out long.
