They're supposed to be tweaking the process, but we'll see. - Rinosaur
The obvious solution is the gold plan but apparently it’s too complicated for the long pants hockey world |

Oh and back to the Caps thread, you got them going no matter how anyone felt the hit went. You say two words and it flips the whole comment section lmao. |

That’s a movie I absolutely refuse to watch again to preserve the memory. I used to love all the Broken Lizard stuff in middle school. Watched Super Troopers a few years ago and hated it. Completely ruined the memory. |

Once mathematically eliminated you accrue draft standings points which would determine the draft order. |

I also think it makes sense that the only teams eligible to draft in the top five are the ones who finish in the bottom five. Maybe that's a little too simplistic, but I think it's the most fair. |

In our younger drinking days Beerfest played on loop all day while we partied during St Patrick's day. Unless there was a pens game haha. |

Yeah. So the worst teams have the most opportunity but they have to win games to get the top pick. Eliminates tanking. Gives late season games more interesting and fans of poopty teams a reason to tune it. |

If they keep a lottery system more things need to be in place. Falling in the lottery multiple years in a row seems like something that’s broken as well. |

Yeah doubt it every happens since they idea came from Andrew Gold at the Sloan conference back in 2012. Shane doan endorsed it in like 2016 but I don’t think it’s gotten much traction with the 100 hockey men. |

We only need it to be effective for two or three years. After that it doesn’t matter and we can retain to milk assets. If Sid and Geno were younger and we still had legitimate window I’d probably be in favor of trading him this offseason. - Victoro311
The plan should be to trade everyone of value for as many futures as you can get once Sid and Malkin move on. There’s not a single player on this team that’s young enough to be part of the future on the other side of the rebuild. That 100% includes Guentzel, and if you ask me, it also includes Marino. - Victoro311
We're operating on 2 different time frames.
Rust, Malkin, and Letang's contracts are all up. Malkin will be 36 and Letang and Sid 35 before that season. If you haven't started rebuilding yet, it's time. So no extensions for players over 30 unless they are retirement contracts.
Start rebuilding the farm system so if you get lucky in a lottery or otherwise find a franchise player, you have something to surround them with. Pens might not have competed as quickly with Crosby, Malkin, and Letang if they didn't already have Fleury, Whitney, Armstrong, Orpik, Talbot, Kennedy, Scuderi, Christensen, Malone in the system. All either filled key roles or were trade chips.
By starting sooner, some of those defensemen may still be around. Other then that, I'll agree, it's just when they are traded. |
