How many contracts to age 30 wings work out?
- Tojo.

We only need it to be effective for two or three years. After that it doesn’t matter and we can retain to milk assets. If Sid and Geno were younger and we still had legitimate window I’d probably be in favor of trading him this offseason.

Yea I enjoyed that tandem. A little off topic but Jackie Redmond is hot.

Lightning's broadcast is probably the best in the league, even better now that they've gotten rid of Peckham. Engblom is great.
- j.boyd919

Yeah, they're solid, but I still think the Rangers have a better one. Sam Rosen is one of the best there is. Boston, NYI and Detroit (no offense Feds) are amongst the worst I've heard.

Detroit’s is awful. Bottom 5-10 in the league.

I probably prefer the Gord Miller/Ray Ferraro team the most right now.

It's really going to be interesting to see how the Pens move forward from Geno and Sid. I don't think we realize how lucky we are as Pens fans to not only see our team win as many cups as they have, but to have drafted the obscene number of generational talents in such a short period. To me anything more than one is obscene lol. We may never see this again in our lifetimes unless luck and timing work out once again.

The Pens will need shrewd and calculated people are the top moving forward.

The plan should be to trade everyone of value for as many futures as you can get once Sid and Malkin move on. There’s not a single player on this team that’s young enough to be part of the future on the other side of the rebuild. That 100% includes Guentzel, and if you ask me, it also includes Marino.

That's a good one, yup.

I don't mind Measy at all, he's definitely an upgrade over Steggy.

Errey is brutal though hahah

Oh, I agree, and I think depending on a draft strength/position and how long Sid & Geno want to play, the Pens could be rebuild into a competitive in a reasonable amount of time. All of this will be predicated on how long Sid and Geno want to play, play for the Pens and/or play for a Pens team not built to win.

Unless you luck your way into another 1C and 1D it’s gonna be a long rebuild. That’s just how the cap era works.

Judging by the number of comments on this thread, our Illustrious Blogger RW has completely checked out. Nothing to write since Thursday? Good riddance, I say!

I wish this was a chat room type of a setup. That's how I am using these boards - I skip right past his drivel.

Exactly. Tanking gets you MVPs. Elongated tanking gets you a warchest of assets and cap flexibility to surround your MVP.

I was thinking this last night about Letang as a 3rd rounder, who had only played defence for 3 years when drafted, becoming a 1D.

The incentive is still to put yourself in the best draft position possible though. This is what’s silly about lottery reform. Lowering the the odds for bad teams to get the 1st overall pick doesn’t take away the incentive to tank. It just prolongs rebuilds and extends the time these bad teams need to tank for.

68 ROWs for DET the last 3 seasons. Picked 4th, 6th, and 6th.

NYR 2020 1st overall - 93 ROWs

NJD 2019 1st overall - 91 ROWs

BUF 2018 1st overall - 80 ROWs

They need to reform it in the other direction than they are considering it. If you’re the worst team and statistically most likely to get the 4th pick the system is broken.
