Any word on how long or how serious?
- Rinosaur

Not yet, still being evaluated. Maybe a rib issue? I didn't see the hit but someone said he got hit hard behind the net. Sucks because that line was clicking.

Geno and Letang should be like Sid and have their cap hit be their number on their new contracts. 7.1 and 5.8 sound good to me haha.

Honestly, if they do get extended, this is probably what happens and actually might make some sense. That would be an extra $4m to pick up a pretty good free agent or frankly to pay for Rusts likely raise.

I love Rust but depending on his cap hit would determine for me if we keep him or not.

I'm sure Rust gets around the $6M mark.

I would love for Hex to find a way to convince WPG that Matheson is the LD they need and swing a deal for Lowry.

Lol he's so bad. He's honestly just good for kids entertainment. Mears isn't bad, he's just bland. Steigerwald was the worst, he was just a few notches up from Jack Edwards. Lange should have never been removed from TV. It sucks we lost our two best voices of the team in Lange and the PA announcer John Barberro.
- 668710

Mears is fine but his voice puts me to sleep lol

Yeah he was better back when I listened to him and EJ Hradek on NHL network back in the days.

As goofy as Errey is and as vanilla as Mearsy is, I honestly think the Pens have one of the better local broadcasts. I do watch quite a bit non-Penguin games and I will say they are one of the least homerish when it comes to praising opposing teams and calling out their own team, especially when it comes to penalties. I've watched so many local broadcasts and they act like homer fans. If their teams gets called it's bullpoop, if the other team gets called it's legit, etc...

The Rangers probably have the best local team.

He's probably just better at that. Steigy is the same. He does some pre and post game stuff on radio and does a good job. He just couldn't keep up with the action doing play by play which at least Mears can.

And Steigy was terrible with goal calls and penalty calls, and big hits. Remember when Kunitz layed out a guy and Steigy said "he went down like Hobey Baker" and I remember a goal Sid scored and he said "well he burnt him like a piece of toast" lmfao

I'd consider it if he was in the 5mil range and if the cap goes up. Bit I'm leaning more towards no.

Depends what it is. Rust isn’t an over preforming middle six winger anymore. He’s a legit, consistent scoring top 6 winger. What is that worth at age 30? Who do we bring in as a replacement? If he’d take $5 mil AAV or less you have to consider it in respect to what the alternatives are, and then you might have a tradable asset when Crosby and Malkin retire or move on.

Lightning's broadcast is probably the best in the league, even better now that they've gotten rid of Peckham. Engblom is great.

Maybe after next year he’s a Dupuis situation where he’s obviously starting to regress and not giving him a big contract is a no brainer and prevents you from resigning Iginla, but for now this is still very much a wait and see.
