Giorgiev is going to leave PPG in a box.

EDIT: And indeed he was pulled.

Ok. Thank god the period is about to end so we do repeat what happened last time they scored 3 this fast.

I was pretty positive Dumo was going to stink when he came back. We are so incredibly fortunate that is not the case. We (frank)ing needed him.

Marino dropped to the 3rd pairing with Pettersson. Coaching are taking notes of his early struggles. We should be fine.
- Barnaby36

Pretty sure Marino wasn't the one that got dropped down the line-up.

Penguins twitter keeps listing Matheson-Ceci as the second pairing, but I don't expect that to be followed in practice.

I don't think the Pens have a real 2nd pair right now lol. I'd call it a 3A and 3B.

Definitely changes my calculous on my "trade whatever LD gets you the biggest return, doesn't matter who" take. You can't trade this version of Dumoulin.

Sort of how Blueger's line gets listed often as 4th line even though they always play much more then the 3rd.

We definitely have the potential to have a good 2nd pair. And it has to do with #6.

Dumo has looked awesome. Can we say that, or is it too early?

Oh I was definitely part of that club as well... I didn't see a tap of him playing yesterday though, missed the game.

I expect after a few adrenaline games he will regress till he catches his legs. But it is nice. I don’t see the need to label 2 or 3 pair but just play whichever of the 3 is doing best. Ceci has been great in a sheltered role so let Marino have it a little easier now. Maybe he will get some confidence and we will see how ceci handles a bit more work. Ceci starts sucking then give Marino line more minutes... y’a know... coach stuff.

Dumoulin reads the play so well. Yesterday when he intercepted a pass on the PK, I said, whelp haven't seen that in a while. Sweet dish on the Sid goal also.

It's more of a Matheson issue than a Ceci issue. He's visibly regressed since his three master class games coming back from injury, and the underlying numbers tell a worse story than the eye test. Ceci has been steadily good all season. You don't want him playing second pairing minutes, but I'm more confident in Ceci than Matheson right now.

Besides individual gaffs it seems like all the pairings have really had trouble in their own zone.

I'm not sure how the coaches think these breakouts are good. Is that how they draw them up in practice?

You can count on one hand the amount of clean breakouts under pressure they have per game. It's their biggest issue IMO. I think the guy left open in front of the net stems from it.

The thing g about the breakouts in practice is that it’s against our own D so they prob work great.

Yeah. Matheson regressed hard. I said before, I can handle those gaffs, but he's not bringing enough good stuff to off-set it.

Heard on the fan this morning....

What do we have left 34 games....something like that? 16 against Buff and NJ. Washington and the Islanders both have 7 of their wins against those two teams. Philly with 6 wins against those two teams. The whole division has gotten fat on beating those two teams. Boston is 1 and 3 against NJ.
