I think Hextall will communicate better with Sullivan compared to JR so I think we will be making deals for players with some input from Sullivan as well. I think JR acquired some players with little input from Sullivan. Hextall seems like a different GM.
- 123Kid

Hopefully that's true. I'd still stick to my point of Sully not wanting to replace Guentzel as the net front guy on the PP. Better communication means they don't get that guy in the first place for Sully to not use him.

Fvck that looks great, man. Tell me more about the Au Piovre (what's in it). Sometimes suaces can take steak to another level but I usually just like them how they are if cooked right and good cut....well, with some light spices.

Have you ever tried Cod Au Gratin? ... Missing out if not.

- MattStrat

Typical french cooking putting sauce all over everything. It's a pepper cream sauce.

Oh ok, cool. Yeah, I have a big soup pot. I think you specifically needed those plastic bins.

Nope, I've seen plenty of people sous vide in pots

Ribeye is the best, but I eat filet very often. I like buying whole tenderloins and cutting into steaks myself. Agreed on it not having as much flavor but I usually do it with lobster, so a little butter on top to finish it works perfect.

Cooking I'll cast iron sear one side on the stove top flip toss on a dollop of butter (w/ fresh thyme and sage when I have fresh stuff growing)and throw straight into the oven for another 4-5 mins depending on thickness. There are better ways to do it I'm sure but this is a quick, easy method that always turns out well for me.

- MacPatty

There's this Asian market that has choice tenderloins for like 35-40 bucks for the whole tenderloin. It's a no brainer. I usually counter that with a whole 16 lb ribeye from Sams club which runs like 170-200 so I get the best of both worlds. 9-10 ribeyes and 7-8 tenderloins teaks.

Agreed. Baking and Cooking are basically my ways of meditating lol
- Rinosaur

Guitar is my main mediation, the last thing I'm thinking about when playing guitar is playing guitar, but no doubt, a lot of thoughts get sorted while cooking/baking as well.

No it was this thing called a snowball that needed this thing called advocaat which is essentially the Dutch version of eggnog. I needed the cognac/brandy to make the advocaat. The cocktail was actually incredible. Tasted like key lime pie. My dutch buddy from grad school got a real kick out of the fact that an American knew about advocaat, let alone made some.

But yeah both those cocktails are also on the scratch off, and then after that I really don't know what to do with the rest of the cognac.

- Victoro311

Oh wow, that sounds like a very interesting cocktail.

I shall be trying this method. I've done lots of searing first but not this reverse stuff, and really, it makes sense now that you've mentioned it haha.
- MattStrat

Make sure you have a leave in thermometer. I got mine for like 10 bucks from walmart but there are some real nice ones you can get. It makes it so much easier, and you don't get that "grey" band. Nice perdy red.

Married young, joined the service. Never learned. I cook steaks on the grill. While I'm drinking. That's as complicated as I get.
- Thunderbolt

I hear ya. Personally I love learning new stuff but I know quite a few people that say " I cant cook" and just really never give it an honest go.

To each their own, different strokes for different folks, etc.

I'm not sure how much better they can communicate lol if you watched "In the Room," they literally had a discussion on camera in person in the same room about who they were targeting. JR point blank asked Sully "who do you want?" and then said "well, you wanted speed, now you've got it."

I like cooking, I built a cement smoker when my girl and I were quarantined for covid. When it comes to a real kitchen though she mostly tells me to just get out if the way.
- Grinder47

That sounds cool. I always thought building a smoker would be pretty cool. I'd like to build a brick pizza oven once we get into a house.

Edit: Something like this would be sick

One of my best friends from grad school is always cooking up big ideas. He wants to build a forge, keep bees, and build a brick wood fire oven. He also recently has started trying to convince me that we should start making our own small batch shave soap (we both wet shave). I’m always like female dog where are you gonna find a property in DC that can accommodate all this nonsense with your income as a free lance consultant?

Nice!

Do you mean kind of guitar? or genres?

I have 14 guitars. The main electric I use is a 2001 American Deluxe (Matt)Strat deluxe haha with a single, single, humbucker pickup config and in close 2nd a 1968 Tele dad passed down to me. I love the humbucker in the bridge because I taught myself with a lot of heavy metal in my teens and early 20's and its still in my blood from time to time. For acoustic I mainly play my Larrivee that I bought from the 5k I earned winning an open mic competition here in the city like 15 years ago. Larrivee is a Canadian company, Jean Larrivee is a world renowned luthier, and they have a factory in British Columbia and one in California that does the satin finished products. Mine was made in California. Its really nice. I also studied classical a bit in my late teens, so I have a nice classical made by one of Larrivees sister companies and that's always just sitting around upstairs away from music room so it gets a lot of attention. Usually plucking on it while watching Pens games.

I play all styles of poop and I very rarely use a pick for electric or acoustic.

How about you? what's your main squeeze(s)?

You Yanks make the best guitars, hands down hahaha and its not even close.

I find it funny that cooking at home is supposed to be a woman job, yet the chef profession is male dominated. Cooking is manly, find a new slant.
- Victoro311

Just grew up in a different era, men went to work, women stayed home. Nearly all men that cooked were either single or did it for a living. Few did it for a hobby.

Hahaha my brother keeps bees. He was pretty stoked that some of them survived the winter. What the (frank) is a forge? Like a blacksmith's forge?

Well, I once had a Gibson SG. That was my baby and got stolen in college. I sold a few of my guitars right before I moved. I had a Gretch semi-hollow body that I sold. Right now I'm rockin an Epiphone Les Paul and Martin acoustic.

I play all kinds of styles. I was in metal bands in college, but I'm really more of a hard rock/classic rock guy now. I play a bit of blues and classical.

The Yanks do make the best, but I'll tell you, if my Les Paul didn't have an Epiphone logo on it you'd never know. They're half the price and so similar in sound and feel. I also just an Orangewood acoustic. Very affordable solid quality guitars. Pretty too.
