your comment was almost exactly what my criticism of the Flyers PP is. i couldnt resist the funny. so many hard-arounds and dumps into the corners with no one in position to maintain possession and just a flat, emotionless effort. |

What about Skinner (with salary retained) or E.Staal for Pettersson/Sceviour? - Barnaby36
Would rather take Lucic over Skinner if we are trading for players with a bigger cap hit in hope they play better here. I wouldn't mind Staal. I think Skinner would add to the problem of us having too many smaller quicker players with no net front power forward type players to complement their play. |

You mean the guy who helped drive offense when he was here? Then yup.
Don't you have a Lucic poster to go jack off to? |

Get Lafferty the hell out of here. He's bum. Dude makes constant bad decisions. - madmike71
Sully always seems to give him a lot of rope, but Lafferty only got 3 and a half minutes so maybe he'll be out next game. |

I question whether he is a #4. That is his ceiling, though. Still not worth $4M. - Hockey66
A number 4 actually is worth 4M.
I’m not educated enough in this to fairly evaluate someone’s worth. IMO 4m if you are a play driving and decent point producing 2nd pair Dman. He is a passenger who offers nothing special. No grit, strength, net clearing, shooting, etc . He shouldn’t be in the same pay bracket as Marino or dumo, yet I’m sure there are plenty worse Dmen that make more money that therefor could be argued he easily deserves his paycheque. Prices were just going up and up now with the flat cap they are coming down. Obviously petts got a contract on hopeful future production. - 10inchTerror
Dumoulin has definitely been worth more than 4M. That's why teams give so many young defensemen 4M on long-term second NHL contracts. If they are a solid top 4 you got your money's worth. If they do better, you got excess value.
With Marino, I think you have a good shot at winning that bet and getting excess a value and feels pretty safe you'll at least get 4M worth.
Can Pettersson be a solid #4 and live up to his contract? I think so, but he's gone a bit backwards this year instead of improve. I agree with the mostly vanilla. The one thing I like is he's played well with guys like JJ and Gudbranson, something you have to do as a 4 when injuries hit and my big complaint about Maatta who fell apart without a good partner.
But when you don't have the upside to go beyond a #4, you should just get a bridge deal. Vic is right, you really don't want to pay those mid roster guys market value unless you really can't fill that hole any other way. #4 LHD isn't the hardest thing to get and a guy like POJ might be ready for that spot a year from now. |

Wow... I've never missed a game due to thinking it started at a different time before haha. I thought the game was tonight... all week I thought it was tonight Haha. Well they won in regulation and I had an awesome day outside hiking and sliding with little guy. Double win.
What time did it it start, anyway?... Now that its done the start time isn't on scoreboards. |

LOL at anyone who doesn't take into consideration a player is returning for their first game in a month and a half, after only playing 5.5 games to begin with and after an offseason loads of other players around the league have struggled with.
ERod is sh!t haha.. Just not quite as sh!tty as most of what we've been seeing deployed on 4th line for weeks now. |

This is why I don't think a #4 is worth $4M.
POJ and Riikola can approximate what Petts is doing (or not doing) for around league minimum. Sure, if you get a stud bona fide top 4, then pay him $4M+. |

It’s pretty obvious Pettersson has to go. Trade for anything (pick or attached to some other player). We now have PO Joseph who clearly has a better ceiling not to mention the good addition of Friedman and Riikola on the roster. |

Honestly I wouldn’t be against bringing Lucic for the 4th line. The guy can scrap and hit. |
