I don't recall too many people being that against retaining Kreider? - JRR1285
Well, maybe I just posted on the wrong night or something, because I certainly took some heat for it! And I do understand that he's streaky, but at least he HAS good streaks. And when he's on, he's really on, and it produces wins. |

As for the Captain thing. I am honestly surprised they didn't name either him or Zib this past offseason. Head scratcher there. - JRR1285
my point has been that I think that if the Rangers knew they were going to win the lottery where the first round pick was a franchise left winger, on top of a pandemic coming where the salary cap could remain like this for years I don't think they would have given him that much money for that term.
When they gave Kreider that contract, they rightfully believed the cap was going up to like 88 million and would keep going up for years, where 6.5 million would have been nothing.
But now, I mean, Kreider is proving it, he really is the heart and soul of this team

I do recall you mentioning that now. It made a lot of sense then and it still does, even now. The flat cap is going to be a killer going forward. Hopefully player salaries scale accordingly. |

I agree. While I do get concerned with his streakiness I felt the AAV of his deal was reasonable at the time. There is some concern (cap issues) as Jimmy mentioned more eloquently than I will but hopefully it's not too much of a problem going forward. |

Well, sure, the cap's always going to be an issue for all teams. But, to me, quality is hard enough to find -- when you have it, you need to find a way to retain it! And this time they did. |

Are all of us really pretending we don't know the reason for Mika's problems?
Nigel Tufnel: You can't (frank)ing concentrate because of your (frank)ing wife! Simple as that, alright? It's your (frank)ing wife!
David St. Hubbins: She's not my wife.

I like to look at the overall. Anyone looking at Kreider the last 2 weeks is going to say, he should be captain, etc, etc.
What about the whole beginning of the season when you didn't even know he was playing?
I get Kreider is streaky and he is playing like an absolute animal right now and is pretty much carrying the team, but you can't leave out when he completely disappears when objectively talking about him. |

#NYR practice is underway, and as you might expect, Igor Shesterkin is not on the ice. We won't get an update on his status until after practice.
Alexandar Georgiev and Keith Kinkaid are the two goalies out there. |

Getting Chytil back solves a bunch of problems. I'm not going to celebrate too much, that was a competitive game until we ran up the score a bit.
What's going on with you guys, I thought 2 weeks ago you had a chance at the POs, did someone tell you to tank?

I guess that I, for one, just accepted it as part of the deal with him and was looking forward to the next one of these streaks that he's currently on. Again, if they could have traded him for Auston Matthews or something, well, then, obviously a completely different story. But since that wasn't going to happen, you might as well just keep him and try to get the most out of the good streaks.

As young Laf continues to gain confidence, we can really begin to see the talent. The touts who likened him to M. Ratanen have hit the nail on the head. That was a tremendous snipe last night, and a sign of great things to come, but he’ll need a center who will is able to find him on a consistent basis.
Even the big boss man could agree with that assessment.

I wasn't against signing him. He's a valuable player for the team. With the situation that happened with Covid, I doubt the Rangers would have signed him for as much as they did though.
If he wanted to be a captain though it can't be accepted. With his speed and size he should always be noticeable, even when he isn't scoring. Thats where I break with the Kreider Posse. He can't disappear completely if he wants the C. |
