Why would Edmonton want Ghost? I don't even think he breaks the lineup unless injuries. They already have a ton of PP specialists (Barrie, Russell and Bear). He may be able to edge out Russell, but that could go either way. - Glak18
Don’t know. Doesn’t hurt to try. Was more just looking at the cap. |

It's not about the star power of the name per se, it's about how a player fits with the group and his linemates/D partner. Niskanen was an above average all around D but not a star. He was, however, a perfect fit last season. - bmeltzer
Good point. But I don't know where a fit would come from either. Teams arent willing to give up RD for nothing. Especially right handed shot types. |

Just because it hasn't happened doesn't mean the Flyers haven't tried. |

Right. It’s all speculation as we are not involved. They may have tried. They may not have. |

Don't think the Oil can afford to move Larsson in-season. He's anchoring their 2nd-pair and PK right now.
Assuming they re-up Barrie, they're probably set on the right side for the future. Broberg's on the way too, and he's pretty similar to Larsson.
So it seems logical that Larsson will be hitting UFA, and that's when the Flyers should pounce.

Did Cap Fraude show enough leadership last night?
Still no Pavelski though. |

Pavelski is having an amazing season and only has 4 more points than Cap Fraude.

I'm way more impressed with how great Friedman was considered after he was claimed by another team |

Can Couts still be in the top candidates for the Selke with his time missed in this shortened season?
I would sure assume so! |

Following the thread last night I thought we traded Paul Coffey in his prime.

Savard would be a perfect fit.
Problem is, most PO-bound teams would love to add a dependable warrior like him, too. Also, not sure the Jackets would part with him. He's a Torts favorite. - Tomahawk
I admittedly don't know much about him. But for his style of player, that's not necessarily a bad thing. After seeing Eklund's piece on him yesterday, and reading up on him a little, he does seem like a great fit. 30 yrs old, on the last year of his deal at $4.25M AAV.
But like you said, cost could get out of hand once the bidding starts. And the biggest question is what does Columbus think of him? Are they already planning to re-sign him? Is he due a material raise on his next deal?
A deal involving Ghost would be nice, as the salaries for this year would wash. And regardless of your opinion of Ghost as a player, Savard just seems like a better fit for what we need. But I wonder what Torts would think of Ghost. Would be nice to get him here with a handshake agreement to extend after the expansion draft. |

I’d say so. With the farce that all awards will be, anything goes.
Canadian media has awarded t he leafs the presidents trophy and has also declared Matthews or McDavid the hart winners. |

I expect torts would bench ghost before he got off the plane. Savard looks like a fit in that he’s a rh shot but I’d have to think more about how he’d help our d slot correctly.

Yeah, I missed it too. Friedman was a depth player. The fact is the Flyers depth is better than most of the league and certainly than the Pens. It hurts that it’s Hexy and the Pens. I think it is more that and the loss of an asset for nothing that gets folks.

It doesn't hurt in the least, he was a depth AHL/NHL tweener.

I’m personally over it. I think Bill brought up a good point about, in hindsight, trying to put him through waivers before the season started. If Prosser as they said impressed in camp and took the 8 or 9th spot from Friedman, it would have been good to do it then. I mean let’s be real since we are talking an 8/9 role, unlikely to play more than 2-3 games, Prosser the vet is the better choice to sit out.
This gets Friedman a chance to play and gives the Flyers an open contract spot. Move on.

Yea but he may have had to pass waivers again. 10 games or 30 days I believe and waivers go into effect again. Could be wrong. |

He only played in 4 games this season. Really though, the Weal comment might be right, he might not be viewed as valuable as some of the prospects currently on the Phantoms. If he played any more in the AHL, he would be taking away a development spot.
