I am not concerned about forwards. The Flyers score plenty and have gotten basically nothing out of TK and NoPa goalwise. This team needs a d-man.
- mickel25

I agree, even if Myers is OK. the Flyers need another top 4 Dman. Ghost was moved down to the 3rd pairing which made sense but even there I think he made some costly decisions. Also Provorov was way better last night playing with Braun, which leads me to believe playing with Ghost this year has hurt Provorov's game; perhaps because he feels he needs to compensate more when Ghost is out there?

This isn't the first time "rumors" have leaked through after Friedman gets sent back down after a call up....Just happens he was claimed this time.

Plus add the fact it is known that he's "good at drawing penalties" and his head bobble didn't match the contact made me laugh.

Knowing the Flyers luck he becomes a solid top 4 guy somewhere, but realistically he's only an emergency call-up kind of guy.

I'll be the first to admit I checked out after 3-0. Kudos to any of you who stuck with it.

Just a bad day yesterday and all I wanted to do was watch hockey. First 3:57 of the game and it added to the frustration.

wowwww.

haha nah i thought about it as well. if the penguins would have scored on their power play after being up 3-0 i probably would have. great game though other than the first 4-5 minutes.

Agreed. In the end I think they add another veteran guy that is better than Hagg or Gus. They play Ghost with him. Provy will play with Myers, Braun or Sanheim the rest of the way.

I don't see them splurging for a top pair guy. Not saying it is right or wrong. I just do not see them doing it unless they get a sweet heart of a deal. Like the deal Vancouver made for Schmidt.

I think everyone is on agreement that the Flyers need a top 4 guy on defense, someone who could slot into #2 and play the right side, but they can be expensive. I would still love for the Flyers to make a run for Zadorov from Chicago, but this stupid expansion with the pandemic makes everything so complicated.

After that the Flyers are in desperate need of their Nick Ritchie/Tom Wilson/Young Simmonds, especially when playoffs roll around. Someone who is physical, willing to drop the gloves and be decent at it and can play some hockey too. Morin just isn't going to cut it.

Don't recall any rumors of him being not liked or what not. He can be a solid bottom pair guy. Not a high bar.

If Giroux is a better winger, why does he always have a large impact when they put him back to center? Didn’t he score his first goal of the playoffs once they moved him to center?
- SuperSchennBros

The stats and all advanced metrics say he has a bigger impact at wing.

You all know I really would prefer the Flyers trade for Ekholm, but here are some alternative right shot defenseman they should consider from teams that might be willing to deal.

1. David Savard - Blue Jackets
2. Colin Miller - Sabres
3. Christopher Tanev - Flames

I would even consider swapping Ghost straight up for any of these players. The Flyers could gain a little space and expose any of these 3 players in the ED, like they would expose Ghost anyway.

Absolutely true that the Flyers need to replace Niskanen and Ekholm could be that guy. Is it worth it to mortgage the future? Only if the rest of the team is ready to compete for the cup now. If not, don't do it. Top 2 D men don't grow on trees.

Yeah but that plays more into what the Flyers are now, kill em with depth. The Flyers have the depth already, but what counteracts depth is inconsistency. An all-situation kind of guy who can skate and score is great until they go through slumps where they don't score. Flyers have enough of that already.

I just personally think the Flyers are easy pickings when the game gets nasty. Sure they have players that will stick up for themselves, but end of the day they have no one who is a threat to rile things up.

Just look how one player can physically and mentally dominate the Flyers a whole game...Ristolainen.

Kvetching after a win is SOOO Philly.
So allow me!
Last night, directly in front of a ref, our forward had his legs taken out and no call. In the prior game, we had a guy in the goal have his legs taken out.
Since in both cases the puck was RIGHT THERE, what the heck were the officials looking at, the scoreboard?
Having been a fan of Courtier from the drafting, I wonder if I should look for a scouting position with a field hockey team? I mean, I must be psychic or something, eh?
I love when they talk of his amateur scoring and how his offensive juggernautry (SP?) was not unexpected. Those first couple of seasons, while he was finding his way as a pro, immediately brought concern about this attribute. What came to the fore was his character and how he adapted himself with a resolute, calm demeanor to the new challenges.
He's my fave.
He would make a good son, I'd bet.

Me too, but I doubt the Rangers would give him up. The Rangers have their young guns now in Lafreniere, Kakko, Fox and Miller, plus really good veteran players. I fear them the most in this division after this season.

Krieder is big, fast, physical and can score. I think if they had the replacement for Nisk and Krieder type they would have a shot to win it all.

Chicago has a bunch of r h d.

Murphy or zadorov.
Risto
Ekblad
Dumba

Are others that may be up ( doubt ekblad.).

Wonder if Gus plus a pick for demers would work.

Great team win last night! Its ironic because even though the Flyers got down 3-0 within the first 4 minutes, I thought they played their most complete game of the season. After that timeout the Flyers dominated the rest of the way, shutting down the Penguins in the neutral zone and skating the best I have seen them skate. When they did make a mistake, Moose was there to bail them out, especially in the 3rd on Malkin. I also thought NAK was once again in the middle of things last night, he may not be the most talented player on the team, but I wouldn't sit him out if I had the choice. I also want to give a big shout out to Nolan Patrick. I thought last night was the best game he has played all season. I know he didn't show up on the stat sheet, but he skated better than I have seen him skate and made his presence known on just about every shift he had. If he continues to play like this, good things will come for him and the team!

I thought it HAD to be a 5 minute major at first.

So happy they got that one back in the first though.

I stuck around and was pleasantly surprised.

Most teams would be better by just adding Krieder to the lineup, but it would cost more than just picks and prospects to pull him away. Still doesn't change some of the Flyers issues, but they would look better on paper.

I am hoping the flyers still have Matty(retired) on the roster because he will come back before the trade deadline.

True but we usually look at what the Flyers need and their holes, all teams have needs. I dont think the Flyers would ever get Krieder, just the type of player the O an use. They are deep upfront now.

My point being that if the players the Flyers have now, if they played up to full potential wouldn't that remove the need for Krieder? I mean saying Krieder can bring this and that, but in the end he would still have to do it. To be honest everything you mentioned about Krieder is basically Hayes when he is going fully (obviously I know Hayes doesn't skate as fast)...

Does Krieder change how the Flyers play against the Islanders, Boston and Washington come playoff time? Even with him I personally still see them getting manhandled.

Just not sure how effective a guy would be who hasn't played a meaningful game in almost a year.

I think that Niskanen ship has sailed, even if he did decide to come back...

I really like Dumba but I can't see Minnesota trading him, especially since they are playing really well right now. Also he makes $6M/season, so the Flyers would have to clear a lot of space for him.

Regarding Chicago, I really like Connor Murphy. Would they be willing to deal him and what would they want back?

Don’t know. Chicago has been playing better. Dumba has been speculated for two ears as on the block. Money wise if you send ghost it may work. Was just pointing out other teams who have rhd.

Calgary is a mess but the only rhd I am interested in from them is Anderson. Don’t see it happening.

The Gus plus for demers is the most likely imo.

There's a difference between a "problem player" (someone who gives less than 100 percent, actively causes trouble in the room, openly disrespects coaches,, has off-ice issues that affect him at the rink, etc) and someone who can sometimes come off as a little abrasive or a little cocksure before he's proven himself.

No one has ever said or implied that Friedman was the former. He changed his game around after his AHL rookie year and found what works for him.
