meh, not much went right.
Matthews still hurt? He sure doesn't look like the guy we saw before the injury. - Aetherial
Not sure why he played so soon...could have rested another game.
Ah well. |

Leafs played crappy. Trolls are out including Hayhead Jamoron, no surprise there. 38 points in 25 games would be about 124 points over 82 games. Leafs are in big trouble. - winsix
If Matthews hits the open net and Tavares hits his 2 open nets, it’s a different game
MEH line was good again
Marner & Matthews -2
I’m not too worried 🤫 |

I only watched the first 2 periods and last couple mins of the game.
one of those games that could go anyway, Demko made the saves.
looking at the stats, Leafs had the better of the high danger and scoring chances at 5v5 and all sit.
good game for west coast b2b
on to the next one

Nylander and Hyman were the best players up front. Engvall was much better in the first half of the game, but was still smart, clever and good with the puck all game. I do think there was some fatigue evident in the 3rd. Certainly the fatigue factor was completely apparent in Jumbo. He looked every day of his 41 years skating in the 1st. I think it's why his ice time was so low (unless someone has said he was hurt?).
I liked Brodie and Rielly on the back-end, but Holl, Bogosian and Dermott were all well below their normal level of play.
Unfortunately, Hutchinson wasn't up to par this one either. He was completely outplayed by Demko - who made at least 6 or 7 wonderful and difficult saves - making maybe 1 or 2 solid saves in the game, but allowing 2 goals by misplaying the shooter angle on both was poor. He had poor positioning for the 3rd goal as well, but it was a well executed play by Vancouver and a great shot by Horvat, so I don't blame him for that one.
On to Saturday with more rested legs. |

I agree, I think they should consider resting him on Saturday. We need him close to 100%

Eventually these are the outcomes associated with a goalie with crummy technique. I guess last year was a long time ago

Canucks have allowed 91 goals (3.37 per game) so far - only team worse in the NHL to this point is Ottawa. I'm not a Hutchinson fan but this game was not on him. Leafs shot wide hit posts and failed to score on the second worst defensive team in the NHL.

You are wrong right there. I have been assured by people on HB that it is impossible for a goaltender to stop any high-danger chances, or make difficult saves.

My laugh for the day:
I had signed up for a 1-year subscription to the Washington Post about 11 months ago, in the leadup to the US elections. I can't remember what the price was, but it was a very reduced rate for the first year.
So I get a notice telling me that the one year is up soon, and they will be now charging me at the regular rate of $150, unless I cancel.
So I go to cancel, they run me through a couple of screens, and then ask if I want to remain a customer at the low rate of $60 per year.
I love business models that screw their most loyal customers. |
