So was just looking at the standings and it's kind of dumb that teams can have an over 500 points percentage even if they've lost more games than they've won...

I think it should be 11.4 points for a regulation win, 3 points each for a tie, 1-game reduction in the schedule for a SOW, give up a 3rd or a 5th round draft pick for an OTL and a chew on Kim Pegula's hoop for an OTW.

I agree, but it is parity in the sense that more teams are in the playoff runs which is usually better for the fans.

I mean I get it and understand.

Some of those rules were to keep the pace going. Brodeur and Hextall handled the puck so often in the corners it was a 3rd defense so they got rid of it.

Right, and they were also prior to the instigator rule, and I think also prior to the 10 game insta-ban for leaving the bench and hitting from behind, and charging was applied differently. It's a rule they could look at revisiting because you're basically saying to the best of best:

Look, Carey, you can roam from the net, but a guy can body check you now, and in all that gear, you're going to go down and leave the net empty. Be sure you have time and space or don't play the puck.

At the end of the day, there are fewer shoot outs, I think. This year 47 games were resolved in Overtime before going to the Shootout (30 times).

I think the NHL likes 3 vs 3. 4 vs 4 was figured out by coaches and it was boring. 3 vs 3 is fun to watch.
