If Seattle plucks away JvR or Jake, would it make any sense for the Flyers to go all-in on Dougie Hamilton in UFA with that all that new-found cap space? - Tomahawk
Yes. |

How about a Jason Demers? Contract expirers, RH, only playing 17 TOI atm but I can't imagine it would cost much to get him |

The guy we want is Josh Manson from Anaheim
225lbs rhd that can pair with provorov, however if we make that deal we have to protect 4dman come expansion draft. - michaelputt

I would say no on Hamilton ...
Edit: I like his offense of course, who wouldn't, but does he give the Flyers the physical presence they need on the back end? Does he help the Flyers kill penalties also? I would rather Ekholm or a Dman like him. |

Hi Bill, wondering if you think Jay O'Brien follows a similar path as Farabee and leaves BU after 1 season to play for the Flyers next year? I have been able to catch several of his games this year and I really like the way he is playing. |

He plays lower minutes because Tyler Myers is first pair right side. He'd be more than adequate for the cost and the short run. - juiced
Assuming you were referring to the Montour post? |

It would be best if he stays at BU. But if he did leave I think he would be a Phantom.

Dougie PK's.
What he does at ES to retrieve and transition, all the smart stick and positioning stuff he does, and his recovery ability are a lot of the same things that made Niskanen valuable before the return to play. Trade off would be a bit of physicality, but he's bringing plus plus skating and a 6'6 reach.
Myers will grow into that Ekholm type defenseman very soon. |

He better stay, he had a horrible year at Providence, then went elsewhere, and played good in 13 games for BU. I would think all parties want him back at school next year |

O'Brien went from a sure bust afterthought to get him into the lineup ASAP already. |

I don't recall anyone saying he was a bust, or reading that anywhere. It is true that he had a tough transition to college hockey his first season, plus the injuries did not help. But he playing for a top program now and is really showing what he can do. And he also has the hockey east tournament to play before the season is over. I am just wondering if he makes the jump to the Flyers next year, as Farabee did after one season at BU, or if he stays another year in college. Note next year he will be 22 years old. |

Thanks for filling me in, I don't watch as much as you apparently do. The other thing that concerns me about him is he is already playing for his 3rd team. With his size and game you would think he would have stayed with Boston, or with Calgary. I hear that he is not a good team mate and this is why. Could be something to consider.

Yeah watching the Caps/Bruins was depressing. We just aren't at their level yet. I hope I'm wrong.
Ghost gets exposed against strong forecheck teams. Pens, Bruins, Caps all forecheck very well. He shouldn't be our top pair guy with Provy. We have a big hole right now as we have no replacement for Nisky. That's on Chuck. He will either make it right sooner rather than later and make an in-season deal, or let us lose early in the playoffs and make a deal over the summer. - cdearth23
I don’t think you’re wrong. We won’t be able to take those guys down in a playoff series with the current roster. Remember. Hart played extremely well vs Montreal and the isles last year which enabled us to go as far as we did. We’d need the same from him as well as an upgrade on d that would allow us to slot our d correctly. I’m willing to go in with provy as the number 1 guy eating 25 plus mins a night but then let ghost play on say the third Pair and win the pp (assuming we pick up a rental dman and then maybe a rotation of Myers and the new guy with provy. Dunno but we’ll need to get creative to compete.
As mentioned before, I feel like our forwards get mailed out there for the most part physically. Can they overcome this with speed? Didn’t look like it last playoffs.
I’m very interested to see how they respond tonight. I re watched last game and until the pens scored their first two goals, we weren’t that terrible.

I think he could still use his junior year at BU because of how short this season has been. |

He's an introverted bookworm, not your regular beers with the boys, chasing tail after the game kinda guy. IIRC, he got poop in Calgary for going to museums lol.
Does that make him a bad teammate? |

I don’t care if he’s a poindexter as long as he can fill that hole on the top pairing.

If the Flyers lose tonight, do you think the hand is gently on top of the panic button ready to push? |

Don’t think so. Had to know that the team would be motivated to beat them. Also, pens have a solid record at home. If we lose all 3, that’s not good but even then I don’t see abject panic.
Fantastic news about sams play. We need him at defence if he can keep this up and improve enough to get back to t he big squad. His snarl would be helpful vs the likes of Boston, wash and Nyi. |

Yes. Mainly because of the shortened season and the fact that there are 5 really good teams fighting for four playoff spots. But what does that mean in terms of deal or roster shake up? Is there a deal out there that makes sense? I don;t see any Phantom or taxi squad person being the answer.
I guess we shouldn't have expected Nate "Bobby Orr" Prosser to be anything more than a depth guy.

I say YES because of the term "hand gently on panic button." I don't think we hit the button yet, but we are starting to look at moves. Short season and tough division.

The big issue here I feel, you can’t afford any kind of a losing streak this season.
Most teams seem to be going to Extra time and getting points. When you lose, your losing to an inter division team who either draws closer to you or pulls further away from you as you sit idle losing. A 3-4 game slide where you may pickup a point or two is not going to get it done.
Bruins/Isles/Caps and Pens are the teams were fighting with. Those all are good teams when healthy. We are healthy now and no excuses anymore. We go on a slide , I think we’re in big trouble. |

My god I wish we could have been added to the Canadian division. We’d trounce everyone. The leafs just won 3 straight in Edmonton and have up 1 goal while missing their best player and using their backup for two of them. Oilers were in second. Amazing. I watched some of that and it’s like the oilers were not trying. Every shot was going in on smith as well.

He passed through waivers before the season to be assigned to the Taxi Squad. Can be moved at will from AHL/Taxi Squad/NHL roster as long as he doesn't exceed the NHL threshold and have to go through waivers again.
In hindsight, the Flyers should have waived Friedman in camp for the same reason. He'd have been more likely to pass through unclaimed before other teams got accumulated injuries and COVID-related man games lost (not to mention before Rutherford gave way to Hexy in Pittsburgh). - bmeltzer
Question. It is ten games/30 days and they have to go through wavers again, right? |

For the right side I am on the Risto boat. However I would kick tires on a couple out there on the Calgary roster as they are sinking. Is left but would prefer dermott over Haag.
Other than that doesn’t seem like there is much out there. |
