I never thought he sucked. I was very disappointed when he retired and knew it would be a huge hole in the lineup.

We don’t need a top pairing guy, we need someone to balance out the D. We can deploy guys situationally, that’s what coaches are paid for
- ClaudeFather

This can work for a bit, but when the season winds down and the games become more critical, you need a top pair that is going to carry the D, and I'm just saying Harmonic plays about 15 minutes a game right now, and that is not going to work as the season goes along. I mean Provorov this year alone has already had several games where he has logged over 25 minutes!

Same. Caps and B’s are physical, skilled teams. Flyers are simply not built to compete with either team.

Im also interested to see where he slots in the lineup and if NAK comes back in. IMO his forechecking could have been useful last game.

Maybe we see Patty move down to 4c and Bunny come out.

- MBFlyerfan

That's what I wish would not happen, but you're probably right. I think TK must start in the top 6 tonight and begin to build some chemistry with Hayes and G.

I agree NAK was playing some of his best hockey the last few games. With the compressed schedule I don’t think it’s a problem to give anyone a night off on a rotating basis. Maybe Lindblom would benefit from a blow.

Respectfully, I don't think that is true. The Flyers have played well against the Caps the past few seasons, and I still believe with their full lineup they can compete better against the Bruins. I still believe the Flyers need to fill that top pairing role on D before they can beat the Bruins in a 7 game series.

It works for Tampa, obviously Provy isn’t Hedman but in the playoffs that guy played with almost every Dman on the roster. There’s no reason if we got a middle 6 guy we couldn’t redistribute the minutes and figure it out.

I like Lindblom's game right now, I would rather see Patrick sit for a few games to reset himself.

But you just said it, we don't have a equivalent to Victor Hedman on this team to enable this to work.

I don't think so because he was already on the taxi squad.

The guy we want is Josh Manson from Anaheim

225lbs rhd that can pair with provorov, however if we make that deal we have to protect 4dman come expansion draft.

We have a guy that logs 25 minutes a night, it doesn’t have to be victor Hedman, we use Provy very similar

Mansion has been on IR almost the entire season although he is back skating he is still injured. He’s a core player on their defense and not on an expiring contract so I’m not sure why they would want to trade him. I don’t think he would come cheaply.

100% wont come cheap, but he's worth it. Most likely would cost us frost + 1st Anaheim's center prospects are thin.

The Bruins piss me off, they have no secondary scoring and their defense is banged up, yet they are still very tough to beat in regulation. The only advantage a team has on them is the shoot-out, well teams other than the Flyers that is ...
- jd250

Watched a lot of it as I said. They we’re doing their typical intereference hold etc to the caps. Mcavoy got a penalty on one of them which was shocking. Thing is. That’s exactly how it will be played come playoff time, so we better get used to it. No space borderline interference all over the joint.

Yeah watching the Caps/Bruins was depressing. We just aren't at their level yet. I hope I'm wrong.

Ghost gets exposed against strong forecheck teams. Pens, Bruins, Caps all forecheck very well. He shouldn't be our top pair guy with Provy. We have a big hole right now as we have no replacement for Nisky. That's on Chuck. He will either make it right sooner rather than later and make an in-season deal, or let us lose early in the playoffs and make a deal over the summer.

He passed through waivers before the season to be assigned to the Taxi Squad. Can be moved at will from AHL/Taxi Squad/NHL roster as long as he doesn't exceed the NHL threshold and have to go through waivers again.

In hindsight, the Flyers should have waived Friedman in camp for the same reason. He'd have been more likely to pass through unclaimed before other teams got accumulated injuries and COVID-related man games lost (not to mention before Rutherford gave way to Hexy in Pittsburgh).

Manson is Murray's favorite son. Ain't gonna happen.

Similar player is the Jackets' David Savard. He's UFA at end of season, free and clear. Who knows if he wants to stay or not.

Adam Larsson is another guy. Draft-disappointment aside, he's been a really dependable minute-eating RHD.

Manson has pros and cons. He does bring size, right handed, physical, absorbs tough minutes (both in terms of quality of opposition and heavy D-zone starts), kills penalties.

In terms of metrics, he's always gone as the team itself goes. When Anaheim was a contender, his metrics were very good. When they fell, his metrics went south, too. Turns over a LOT of pucks for a guy who isn't a point producer.

Cap hit is workable. Has dealt with injuries this season. Has a NTC in his contract, although not a NNC.

If Seattle plucks away JvR or Jake, would it make any sense for the Flyers to go all-in on Dougie Hamilton in UFA with that all that new-found cap space?

He plays lower minutes because Tyler Myers is first pair right side. He'd be more than adequate for the cost and the short run.
