I think it's a combination of things. I think this off-season we need change. We need a sniper/a shoot first player on the ice. Rust is dangerous when he is that player and so is Guentzel, but I think sometimes they get into a play maker pass first mentality.

As I said earlier. I think we need a good power forward someone who can dish out hits, be a net front guy, and really make it difficult for goalies.

I think we need some good adjustments by the coaching staff.

Overall I think we need balance in our line up. Not all speedy dangling pass first players. Also not all offensive speedy small Defensemen.

I think there’s a system problem more than the d all being bad.

The Flyers were forechecking hard and all the forwards kept flying the zone. The d has no options and kept backtracking only to be pinned in our zone.

More support was needed and they didn’t adjust.

Agree with this. It's a combination of things. Our forwards lose a ton of puck battles in the D zone. I never expect them to get the puck out. We end up getting hemmed in and before you know it the D totally crumbles.

We take the puck in our own end and just throw around the boards? Is that a system?

That's the "safe hockey" when you have a lead system. Every (frank)ing team does it and it's so dumb.

hes definitely had some good moments, and thats going to be his style. take the good with the bad. right now, its coming up snake eyes for him every time ha.

marino and letang have both been pretty bad as well, with petterson already discussed as being a whole lot of suck tonight.

- stayinthefnnet

Letang has been much better in the last month. 12 points in 11 games.

He looks like a guy that believes he's better than he is. Probably because the GM was selling him as a future #1 dman. He'll never be that.

I'm not sure what to make of it.... I think he's got some talent and good awareness, but he seems to get "in over his head" a lot this season.

I don't think it's safe hockey as much as panicked hockey. The get hemmed in easily. Then they get tired. They're getting dominated on the boards most nights. Hard to get clean breakouts when your losing so many individual battles. It's one of the primary flaws of the roster IMO.

Haha - good question. He and Letang are our only two competent defensemen at the moment (pending Dumo looking competent upon his return and not like he did to start the season). Oh, and Ceci, too, but both Letang and Ceci are on the right side.

Well that was a complete debacle.

Coach Sullivan: "When plays were there, we didn't execute. We have to do a better job as a group on our exit strategies... We've got to play a full 60-minute game."

Wow! Brilliant! So who is at fault? The players who didn’t play the full 60, the coach who couldn’t get the players to play the full 60, or all of the above?

He was horrid! Just stood there catching flies while the Flyers were parked right in front. He looked like a complete rookie who doesn’t know where his coverage area should be.

Media is a waste of time. Same generic questions, same generic answers. They should just scrap it altogether.

If you could add any two wings to Pitt that isn’t a superstar who would you like to see?

Those players usually don’t translate well into 7 min a night roles.
- Grinder47

Actually he's a 6'6" guy that seems to use that wingspan well in the defensive end. The fact he has more skill then I thought and is a European FA so a little older makes me think maybe Zhorna for 4C. May not work, but neither is what we've been doing and we don't have to trade for him.

Any two non-superstar wings from any team or from teams likely to deal a wing and deal one to the Pens specifically? I doubt current playoff teams are dealing wings unless they need a LD like Toronto in which case it would be a minor trade.

Who do people think are the best long-pants-wearing two-way wingers that could be had from non-playoff teams? That's my question (not to hijack your question).

The game changed the second Patrick injured Friedman. Having no response for your teammate in that situation completely took all wind out of the sails for the Pens. I wonder if Tyler Bertuzzi could be pried from a Detroit.
