Penguin fans are an equal mix of entitlement and ignorance. It’s as if Pens fans feel their opinions are more credible because of their Cup wins. Knowing the grassroots hockey scene in Pittsburgh, most of these guys running their mouths have never actually strapped on the blades. Refer to Mark Madden
Only an idiot would think the Penguins are going anywhere. Their top players are best their best. They have little depth. A poor farm system and have traded many draft picks away.

- BernardShakey

Who or what are you referring to or is this just a generalized resentment?

What you describe sounds like most fan bases to one degree or another and as for the state of the Pens team, we are well aware, thank you.

I for one was under the impression we could trade Jankowski and some picks for Tarasenko and have Bettman grant us a cap exemption to fit everything in. I’m glad Leafs guy strolled in and set me straight.

Pettersson to Detroit for Fabbri and Ryan
- HenryHockey

I would do this.

I think Winnipeg is a great fit and also Vancouver has a big need, but I'm not sure they'd make a move right now.

The Jets have some great prospects and they have cap space. I'd send them Petterson for Forbort and Samberg.

Dumo to the Leafs for Kerfoot.

Petterson to the Yotes for Gogo half retained and Crouse.

Petterson, Poulin and a 2nd to LA for Kupari.

The real challenge is that there are a lot of good LD options out there. Dunn, Gogo, Harjlmasson, Bennett, Mete... I think that Petts and Dumo are the best of the bunch but competition cuts into the return for sure.

This is rich coming from a Leafs fan. Leafs fans have been beating their chests over absolutely nothing for decades. Leafs fans know everything, win nothing.

In all honesty, do I actually think every Leafs fan is the same? Fvck no... that'd be pure ignorance....

I do think the Leafs time is coming though...they're getting close.

- MattStrat

Ok, it's starting to make sense now. He doesn't think Dumo straight up for Kerfoot is anywhere close to equal value. Apparently the only solution is to buy out Dumo. Darn!

I'll be interested to see how Dumo does on his return. Pretty hard to pump up his value because he never scores even in the best of times (not that that's the mark of a defenseman playing well). I guess the stat nerds can dissect the numbers. Both make $4M for multiple years which is less than ideal.

The problem with many of these proposals is that they are based on trades that were made over a year ago in a pre pandemic world.
Most teams cannot take on money. No team wants term, unless it for a star player
It has to be dollar in, dollar out. Dumoulin is a decent D man with two years left on his deal. Once worth 4.1m a year. But the marketplace has changed dramatically. If he was on the open market, he’d be lucky to get 1.5m.
Every team has a Dumoulin. Some teams have more. The only way out for any of these bad deals is a buyout.

- BernardShakey

Dumo lucky to get $1.5?

I'm very excited to read future posts by you.

Tampa paid a 1st and Cal Foote (1st round pick dman) for Blake Coleman so I’d think that will cost ya much more then just 1 of those guys. But he’s only a 30 point 4th line scrubber (3rd liner for Tampa) so who wants him!?
- pens4life-66

They actually traded Nolan Foote who was an end of the first round power forward. Cal definitely carries more value.

Mark Madden would be the first to tell you the Penguins window has slammed shut, but go on about what you don't know!
- joecool2931

Delusional. I know what Mark Madden said. What I am saying is he goes on about hockey like he’s played the game and has contacts. He played street hockey. His contacts are all local as a result of him sniffing jocks. “Have you ever seen the Flyers win the Cup”? What difference does it make. Philly fans are amongst the best. When they’re team is weak they still support them. They don’t go into bankruptcy. But thanks for confirming my argument
