now its all about how bad the Canadian division is, look at any twitter post from a media account about the leafs
- senstroll

I never heard that's when Habs were in first. Funny thing is, they were handing Bergevin Gm of the year awards and not a peep still about Dubas.

I am not getting carried away because we have not faced the best teams in the league, Tampa, Carolina, Boston, Colorado, Vegas etc. This core and this goaltender also has not proven they can win a playoff round.

Having said all of that,

I have not seen a Leafs team this dominant, ever, including '93, which was maybe not so much dominance as it was toughness and defensive discipline with just enough scoring.

They destroyed Edmonton. The results were a surprise, but what was more of a surprise was how it was not close at all.

- Aetherial

Youre right about the playoffs so we will see when we get there.

In the meantime its a fun ride. We can also say that Boston hasn't played the leafs this year and there's no idea how they would handle the leafs either.

Berger is a great example, Leafs are dominating and he stopped talkiig about them Now it's all about media being getting laid-off. Guess what? It's Covid. People from all industries are getting laid-off.

You're probably the only person who listens to what Berger says these days. Isn't he working at a funeral parlour now?

The Canadian division is only "bad" because the Leafs are dummying it.
- gergeswillems

Didn't Calgary win the West last season. Nucks did well in the playoffs.

Leafs are becoming a good team, weather the other teams fans or media like it or not.

Habs were also picked to take a run at the cup.

Wow Leafs are great.

I love how all the Leaf narratives have fallen apart.

To be fair to the media, none of the guys I listen to thought they wouldnt be much after the players left. Maybe not this bad but likely to miss.

Calgary is the odd team to me.

I hope he is nominated at least. Guy deserves credit. He said he was sticking with the big 4 and has done so and found other ways.

That's the thing. I never fault a team by winning games they're scheduled to play. What are the Leafs supposed to do? Tank games because they're playing against "inferior" teams? Feel guilty about dummying their division? Of course not.

Once the playoffs start they'll be 0-0 like every other team who's in the playoffs. But right now they've banked alot of points and they're playing some good hockey. They've earned their place in the standings. Chicago is 5-1 vs Detroit this season and the media is acting like they're still a Cup contender. Tampa and Carolina both get 8 games vs Detroit.

But the media only talks about the weak Canadian division. Stop it.

Like turning around their defensive play. He deserves the Nobel for that - if it wasn’t going to Trump for things

I could say the opposite. If Dubas wins the Jack Adams award you'll be crowing about it. But when Lou won it you were so triggered that you likely couldn't even brush your teeth from your hands shaking so much.

As long as they spend the remainder of the season fine tuning their game. Which, it looks like Keefe is doing.

I dont disagree with this.
I remember Sid's (tim and sid) tweet after the habs beat up Vancouver saying that they were the best team in Canada, no question.

Didnt age well.

And that tweet was really all about the Leafs. Media does things like that was clicks. Sid's a Habs fan as well.

I truly hope you're not referring to this 'new math' approach .

https://www.google.com/am...emacy-in-math-instruction

- MaximusAurelius

What-the-ever-loving-(frank)-is-that?

Jesus!

I don't know if they've adjusted teaching methodology for math in Europe (I would guess it's probably country-by-country). They have a new way to teach kids multiplication that is cumbersome and awkward.

In some ways what it does it teach you the roundabout way to do multiplication in your head by grouping common numbers that you know how to multiply, and then add up the results . . .so you know, the way we were taught: 84x26, you would multiply 84*6, and then multiply 84*2 after first adding the 0 in the ones column and summing the results:

84
26
--
504
1680
----
2184

The new way is more convoluted. It's about decomposition, so you break that into:

80 x 20 = 1600
80 x 6 = 480
20 x 4 = 80
4 x 6 = 24

1600 + 480 + 80 + 24 = 2184

As a parent who was not taught the new way, whenever I watch my kids doing it I want to rip the pencil out of their hand and scold them!
