the world seems to be going backwards in this regard. i just read that US bishops are discouraging Catholics from taking the J&J vaccine because it used fetal tissue in the vaccine development. i mean that is straight up (frank)ing batpoop insane stuff.

generally yes. ties were fine. the way the NHL settles ties now is the stupidest thing in pro sports. imagine if baseball played 1 extra inning where each team started with a runner on third and the top of the order due up, then settled any games tied after 10 with a 3-batter/1-pitch HR competition. this is what the NHL does.

NHL: we now have shoot outs because they have that in soccer and soccer is the most popular sport

Smart people: actually, soccer has ties and only use shoot outs for international championships, and you're keeping shoot outs out of the playoffs. So you're doing the exact opposite.

NHL: blah blah blah send the fans home with a winner
