He's such an enigmatic player, he appears to have all the tools but can't find his offensive game at the NHL level to match what he could do in Major Junior.

He looks to be on about a 23 point pace over an 82 game schedule, he is coming back from a full year off though. How many years is do you take to see what you've got? Rule of thumb is 300 games is it not? You should know what you have by then.

He has 163 so far in his career. I want him to get through this year injury free. Start next season with a full camp and then make a decision on him. I think this season is at least a little bit about getting through the season physically.

If the coach sits him a few games I do not have a problem with that. I do believe he needs to play in most games though.

It's possible that Patrick goes back to 3C and Laughton to 4C, even tonight. We'll see.
- bmeltzer

I love Laughton as that 4C. He’s just a grittier 4th line grinder type. He adds something to that line that NoPa doesn’t bring. Gives more balance as well.

NoPa on the 4th line is not ideal. But maybe it will assist him to simplify things in his mind. I am kinda grasping there I know. I still believe he will come around.

Also, what will it take for a fight in one of these three games? I get that it is not the 70's anymore but it is still Flyers-Pens.

- mickel25

Do you remember when goroux had surgery and when ghost had surgery on their core muscles? It took them over half of a season to get their legs back. NoPa has been out much much longer than those two and he has missed a ton of hockey and also had no trainig camp. Add to that that he probably has some fear in his mind of taking a big hit and being hurt again.
Give the kids til the end of the season to see how he is. He has all of the skill in the world but he just needs his confidence and game legs back
I'm not worried about NoPa just yet

Can he be sent to the phantoms or does he require waivers?

I think a full season next year, with a proper training camp, will give us a better idea of who he really is or what he's going to be. That said, it took Coots 416 games until he broke out of his perennial 30 point seasons and became a star in the league.

Patrick started out really well this year and then settled back into his perimeter game, troubling to me.

He was back very quickly; Nashville hired him as a scout. But the Preds gave him permission to speak to the Penguins about working as Hexy's AGM/ hockey ops director.

I don't know if Nick Pryor, who still scouts for the Flyers as a NCAA/USHL/USHS/NAHL scout will be hired away by Pittsburgh. I am hoping not, because Nick does really good work.

Three in the top five scoring for the Flyers this year are in their 30's, Nolan Patrick's success, along with recent, present & future drafting, are an important part of the clubs future successes.

Patrick apparently starting at 4C, Bunnaman scratched. This will make a lot of folks on this forum happy I presume. I would not have gone this way, but I am open to see what happens tonight. I likewise want the Flyers to get at least 4 out of 6 points these next three games, but 6 out of 6 would be better!

AV will play the lines that are going, 3rd or 4th line whatever, if Patrick's line is going, they will get ice.

Really. Interesting. Wonder how many more will drop and if any of these next three get canceled.

Yikes. Wonder if the game will take place at all. Flyers had their outbreak after the devils series. Don’t need another one.

If Patrick was playing better, I could see that. Laughton in my opinion is too good for the 4th line. If depth pushes him back that's great but not now imo. I wouldn't break up that 3rd line right now.

Chance to really take advantage of the schedule , 3 in a row against a team without their best player. Hopefully we don’t get any cancellations

Let's keep in mind that even during Couturier's low scoring years, his ES point totals were at a 2nd line level in many years.

And guessing this means he will not be in the next two games. Maybe sat but that seems early.
