It's a bit like Golf. A simple ol' college try won't suffice if you want to have any kind of success at it. Requires a good bit of commitment to get to the fun parts.... be forewarned.

Does it have a set system to be played on? Or is it a cross platform game?

I don’t see how having a star center on your team is a mistake
- Santo_44

It very well could be a mistake if Tavares declines and we are paying 11 million for a 40 point player at some point.

But we aren't there yet - and if we win a cup before he declines, it won't matter.

I agree about Pietrangelo's value at age 38 but the Leafs are very much in a win now window. I would consider the last 4 years of his contract as part of the price that has to be paid to get him. It basically has to happen before Matthews' contract is up in case he doesn't want to come back.

And when it comes down to it, even if Pietrangelo is only say, 25% better than Brodie (at the risk of adding an arbitrary relative quantification), the true value is the peak talent that you can put on the ice during crucial game situations. Pietrangelo as one of 6 d-men on the Leafs, marginal improvement. Pietrangelo over Brodie during the last 3 minutes of a 1 goal game, notable improvement.

It's a little bit like the whole "the winner of the trade is the team that gets the best player" idiom.

I tend to agree with this point. Even while typing my point, I was struggling with the notion that . . .if I could get a real #1 defenseman, of which there are fewer than 10 in the entire league, I'm not sure the loss of a top-6 winger is a comparable loss.

I am not a fan of those last 3 years of a deal like that. I just hate idea of being stuck. Or paying a 1st round pick to someone else to get rid of someone.

Your point is well taken, though.

Not cross platform.

PS4 and XB1 are available. But a lot of the commerce happens on 3rd party websites that use the Game's APIs... PC would be the way to go if at all possible, if you're ever planning to trade with other users and participate in the market.

I like how a lot of women's teams are now putting the name below the numbers.

Simple little adjustment, but it makes sense.

Being a GM ain't easy. It's not important anymore though, Leafs will shut the coilers out for a 3rd straight game and we'll all be happy as clams tomorrow.

When I win the lottery, I plan on making an amazing gaming computer, but as it stands now, my current computer ain't gonna cut it.

fair enough.

the graphics settings can be tweaked quite a bit if it makes a difference at all

If you're going for PS4 or XB1, making a solo self-found character is probably the way to go.

My computer is hella basic and that's 2014's basic (no clue if the year makes a difference, I ain't a computer guy at all). So I really don't think anything is gonna help it.

I've only got an Xbox 1, so that's what I'd get it on, if I get it. And I got the stupid Xbox that doesn't take discs. I didn't pay attention to what I was purchasing.

If I was a GM, I'd have a rule about no guy on the team over the age of 33 making more than $6M a year.

Those numbers can be adjusted after looking at graphs and spreadsheets and poop, but seriously, there should be a line which shouldn't be crossed.

How many contracts to superstars after the age of 27 have worked out well?

People laugh at Dubas for giving Matthews and Marner huge contracts, but at least he's paying for them during their most productive years.

Tavares was a mistake.

Karlsson was a mistake.

Parise was a mistake.

I could go on and on and on...

- Atomic Wedgie

I think that's typically true. The worst ones in the league:

Expire at age 40: Suter, Parise, Weber, Burns;

Expire at age 39: Vlasic, Seabrook;

Expire at age 38: Josi, Couture;

Expire at age 37: Fleury, Pavelski, Backstrom, Wheeler, Kesler, Giordano, Bobrovsky, Pietrangelo, Spurgeon, McDonagh, Karlsson, Doughty, Price, Marchand, Crosby

If you take those. . . . maybe Fleury and Crosby will still be okay at 37; there's a lot of years left in a lot of those other deals where a lot can go bad. One thing to note - I said Pietrangelo's deal expires when he's 38 - he must have had a birthday since October - his deal ends when he's 37.

if you are planning on building a gamer on a budget - let me know - there are lots of opportunities to save much $$ over pre-configured "gaming systems" that are commonly available.

I never actually finished the main story in Skyrim. I just did my own poop.

I killed some bandit ass in a cave at one point and ended up ruining the rest of the game though, since he didn't respawn and I couldn't do the quest.

That, and the game crashing, was why I stopped playing the last time I played.

- GreatGigInTheSky

I just started playing Skyrim for the first time (Free on Xbox Game Pass). So far not bad.

My current PC is decent (I grabbed a mid-tier gaming desktop in August); it has a 2070S, so it's not great, but it's more than adequate for things.

That said, similar to you - if I won a lottery, I would build a gaming rig so powerful the lights would dim in Russia when I turned it on. It would make the hair stand up on the back of an astronaut's neck on the Moon.

I just want it to be able to print me a 1985 copy of Kelly LeBrock.

I'm saying it's not in the team's best interests if Freddie gets caved in tonight by the arguably the best two players in the league, who are feeling pretty ornery today after having been shut out the last few days.

Is it really so crazy to sit him tonight and start him tomorrow instead, against a team that is clearly on the schnied?

- Atomic Wedgie

I thought we wanted 3 different goalies to get 3 shutouts in a row?
