you aren't missing anything.

the hyper sensitivity that the "social media generation" has towards their own opinions is anchored in insecurity.... they have no experience of their own to draw upon, so they lash out a older generations with the only defense that they know will generate positive "hits" from their peers.

its not ageism ... its insecurity and essentially exactly the same thing as "little cliques" back in high school... except now you can generate more click-bait by using "powerful" words like Boomer.

I actually find it kind of funny.. 'cause I have very very little in common with the boomers who are almost a generation older than I am.

He'd be welcome to his opinions from where I sit, but they'd be the same carousel of idiocy we all deal with here every few days:

- Brodie shouldn't be on the top pair; he's not a legitimate top pairing D. We should have traded Nylander and signed Pietrangelo

- Holl shoudn't be paired with Muzzin. He's a 5/6 guy.

- Kerfoot sucks.
- Spezza sucks because he never won anything.
- Thornton sucks and only serves as an example that if you don't work hard you'll never win anything by the time you're as old as black and white movies.
- Simmonds sucks
- Keefe sucks
- Vesey sucks

- We should have signed Perry and traded for Bennett instead.

The only one we wouldn't beat to death and raise from the dead so we can beat it to death again would be that Vesey sucks. We ALL agree on that.

- Monkeypunk

I like where the Leafs are at and not huge on whataboutism but I think the Leafs would be better minus Nylander and Plus Pietrangelo on the top pair.

This is the yeast that makes the bread rise..

Boomers set themselves up to fail by going after millennials on their own turf.

It's different than being racist. A lot different.
- Tanooki

there you have it... its not any different in its basis. each is a form of "otherism" or "majority think"...

I thought you enlightened generations would be sophisticated enough to understand this.

Guess I was wrong.

Scientific proof that evolution has stopped.

If cap hit and term are identical, then I'm not sure who I would prefer.. I just have a feeling Andersen will ask for more than Hyman does
- PatC80

Understandable. I'd hate to lose either of them, but in my opinion, it has to be one of those two, because Rielly needs to be a life long Leaf.

And since I've seen enough bad goaltending to last a life time, that's why I lean towards keeping Freddy, since he's a legit starter.

If they can sign/trade for another legit starter at as good of a price as Freddy, then that could change things.

I don't base my opinions on whether I feel others would agree or not.

I am aware of people making statements just to 'fall into the group'.

Consistently pointed out I like Hyman and feel he's an important and underestimated piece of the Leafs core.
Same for saying Andersen is a 'just ok" NHL starter with big playoff issues.
Same for Willie being a good player but with not enough value for this Leafs roster to keep him at 6.9mln AAV.
Same for saying Engvall is a legit NHL'er and Vesey sucks.
Etc etc

- MaximusAurelius

I don't think anyone here thinks Hyman is not an important piece of the Leafs' core; it's why it's hard to underestimate him. Travel back to 2016 when he was shotgunning with Matthews, and there would have been a lot of different opinions about the value Hyman brought - but he has proven himself completely.

Willie, Freddie . . .those are going to fall into the eye of the beholder and what you want from the player specifically. Some people are very forgiving of their goalies, and some people are very critical. Some think they're objective and they're just less variations of critical or forgiving types. We know where we sit with them.

I'm with you on Engvall and Vesey.

But Hyman demonstrates leadership qualities on the team, but with the players they have, he's probably 5th in line for the C behind Tavares, Matthews, Thornton, Marner or Rielly. Thornton, realistically less so because he's not here for long.

now hold on... its not that fact that his arguments were often hollow...

it was the unending repetition ...

Racism is a tool used to keep entire groups/races of people oppressed.

Calling old farts boomers isnt that. But whatever, if you're offended by it then thats your problem.
