I'm saying it's not in the team's best interests if Freddie gets caved in tonight by the arguably the best two players in the league, who are feeling pretty ornery today after having been shut out the last few days.
Is it really so crazy to sit him tonight and start him tomorrow instead, against a team that is clearly on the schnied? - Atomic Wedgie
No its not.
Its a good idea.
Mcd and Drysaddle will be itching for goals. |

I mean, our goal was to take 4 of 6 points against the Oilers.
Mission accomplished.
Anyhoo, I've said my peace. If Keefe phones me to let me know I've convinced him to sit Freddie, I'll let you fellas know. |

I think melanoma kind of funny and anything Jerry Lewis did poop for. I bet that not all medical conditions are really that amusing and you have to pick and choose.

I lived in Edmonton during his reign. He was considered to be the toughest player in hockey. Rumour has it he would play through broken bones. |

What other contracts are they going to move?
https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/mapleleafs
About the only thing I see them doing is not re-signing Freddie, going with Campbell and signing a wily vet for cheap as a backup.
But I honestly think this is all premature. Every single contract for next season will depend on what happens in the playoffs.
Hyman won't get a contract prior to the expansion draft anyways. - Atomic Wedgie
I think is exactly it. Dubas not going to sign Andersen or Hyman prior to the expansion draft...that would be stupid.
If the Leafs go "deepish" in the playoffs that will provide Dubas/Shanahan with data points that they don't have for certain players.. the questions will THEN circle back to the same things. How much do Andersen and Hyman (etc) want.. i) either what to do to accomodate them OR ii) who to move out to make contractual space or iii) who do you consciously expose to Seattle knowing you lose them but at the same time create CAP room.

I'd rather have a starter and a backup than two backups.
Bolded- Will he though? They could very easily make the same and that's too much for a grinder player, in my opinion. - GreatGigInTheSky
If we can re-sign Andersen for 2 years at $4M per, we should definitely keep him.. If he wants $6M+ per, we can't keep him..
Hyman will not cost $6M per season |

So it's forbidden to have an opinion that Hyman (one of the smartest, best educated, well-spoken, down-to-earth and always hardworking guy on this team) would be the best option for Captain on this team??
that's 'trolling' in your book? - MaximusAurelius
It is absolutely not forbidden, but I don't for one second think that you're unaware which unpopular opinions will create the most activity! |

I'd start Hutch again... that way it would seem like a reward - and if he gets caved in because the Oilers wake up... its not such a big deal. If Andersen get's caved it has the chance to start a controversy which will be a distraction for the team.
I'd go Hutch, simply say that Andersen isn't ready.

No but it’s more curiosity on my part than anything else.I was asking Drunken guy about a comment he made - mostly a joke about millennials. But there seems to be a lot of those about all kinds of different generational groupings and it just strikes me as weird. I’ve never really noticed enough common traits within any generation to get there.
I don’t see how it’s any different than making generalizations based on race. Am I missing something? |
