This team has yet to do anything. Imo
Hopefully this season they do turn out to be the best in 54 years....if they do make it deep.
Which they should, fairly easy 1st two possible rounds compared to previous years.

Do the Leafs get some slack on previous years for consistently having to face a top 4 team in the NHL? Because it seems a lot of fans(Leafs or not) don't seem to be ready to give them credit if they do make it to round 3 against easier matchups.

I think you're right. The Leafs suffered from being in the best division in hockey.

Just like the Blue Jays of the Roy Halladay era, they had some really good teams but the Yankees and Red Sox were always better

Is Blues’ victory tarnished because TBL lost in the first round? If Leafs get to semifinals, this will be a good season. Once there, it’s a crap shoot. They will be discredited by some no matter what.

I would agree...I do think the Leafs are a better team than previous years but I still do think the teams that faced Boston were good enough to make deep runs and they just couldn't get past one of the best teams in the NHL in round 1.

I think we have to meet somewhere in the middle...And also realize how much luck plays into the playoffs. Of all the bad luck this pandemic has caused the Leafs get some good luck out of it and don't have any powerhouses to face early in the playoffs.

I think Matthews put it best yesterday after practice, he said "we are playing for something bigger than the regular season."

Which means the Leafs are winning the Cup this year or Tavares gets stripped of the captaincy and it goes to Matthews.

I believe any team should get credit for a good run.

I also think the Leafs had some really bad luck having to face Boston so many times.

As for last years playoffs....Yeah I don't put much stock into that playoffs at all. Seems to be a divide on that and that's fine.
