But it seems to be multi directional, not just directed at the generation that preceded. Obviously, everybody rebels until they become conservative but now there seem to be so many preset, mostly negative connotations associated with different generations. If we made those same generalizations based on race, there would rightly be hell to pay.

It all strikes me as curious.

Ageist comments are typically borne out of ignorance as is racism. I did some volunteer work with indigenous communities. I was amazed and impressed by the reverence granted to "elders". Shows high ethics and class IMO

Best place for Key Lime Pie is where it originates from. Key West. Went for a diving vacation there years ago and there were a few places that offered really good key lime pie.

It's mostly old white males who receive the ridicule.

Because they are the ones who want to preserve the white patriarchy. Of course indigenous people respect their elders more, because they went through terrible poop at the hands of the white man. All minorities likely respect their elders more, why wouldn't they?

Thanks for sharing, not my view. Decent people respect their elders as well as all others. Disresptful generalizations escape from the lips of those void of this level of respect.

BTW - your alt doesn't hide who you are.

WW1 and WW2 were fought for two completely different reasons.

Stopping fascism was good, but racism was rampant during that time. Jim Crow laws remained well into the 60's.

You should try listening to what people say and have a real conversation instead of just running out just running out tired cliches and making broad generalizations. All minorities respect their elders more? That’s a stupid a generalization as it is to characterize all boomers or all millennials or to make assumptions on why I say the things I say based on my age or for me to make assumptions about you based on your employment status or education.

I feel like you could've used a few comma's in there.

Boomers complain a lot. And for reasons i already explained they get a lot of grief.

You don't have to like it, but...

Can we just skip to that point roughly a page from now where AA definitely didn't start this, he never starts this... And if everyone would just tell everyone to STFU this wouldn't happen?

Asking for a friend, thanks.

Pretty sure a lot of people complain a lot when they get older... pretty sure generation after generation is more soft.... due to things like technology....

That is because you only highlighted the part you wanted.....

I think for the most part life was more difficult as you go back in history. I would assume dealing with these difficulties from a young age made people harder.... you know like not having food or a place to sleep if you were not working....

This is hockey blog, so I want to cut this one short. Suffice it to say, you have comically narrow and misguided views about Fascism. Racism is not equivalent to extermination and despite significant strides since Jim Crow, recent events and the election results clearly show the Confederate mentality still exists in the US.

So you do not believe that life experiences or the environment you grow up in have any effect on how tough or weak a person is? Either physically or mentally?

I imagine the increased hostility across and against all demographics is a result of the cesspool that is, ever-pervasive and almost-all-encompassing, social media.

One would think ageism should be as abhorrent as racism, sexism, and other forms of bigotry but, for some (frank)ed up reason(s), it seems to get a pass because... well, old folk are crusty types clinging on to their yesteryear bigotry and the kids? Well (frank) those inexperienced brats who have all of the unearned entitlement and none of the responsibility, amirite?!

Herbies Bar and Chowder House. Best I’ve ever had, and I’ve been going to the Key’s since I was 10. We stayed in Marathon last May, and Herbies is our go to restaurant. Food is fantastic, and the pie is incredible.
